what would you still like to see??
« on: November 04, 2010, 02:18:02 AM »

Ok, these threads have been kind of slow.  New model and maybe not so many people have just yet.......and riding weather coming to an end.......but let's see if we can get more response on this one.  what is 1 feature that you would "still like to see" as an improvement on the '11 mode...........if they were to make it again for '12.......l??    Pork

Hear, Hear!!   I wholeheartedly agree.  that auto cylinder shutoff isn't the real fix, I don't think.  that would be so coool!
As for me, I'd like to see Heated seats, front and rear, separate controls. (something that could be purchased separately and added to my '11.........heheheheehe..........) I really like this bike and I'm afraid people that know me would wonder if my head was screwed on a little too tightly if I bought a '12.

How about a screamin' eagle color band across the gas tank like the Street Glide, or is that something that is only done on an SG??  I think the bike should have something that is unique that makes it stand out as a CVO.....guess the keyless ignition symbol  may be that for the '11 model.  I've just always thought the paint strip on the SG in gold with an eagle is way coool.

I am not sure how heated grips will work on this new bike.  Looking in the parts manual for the '11, On the very end of the right grip is where the fly by wire throttle gizmo goes and I'm not sure you will be able to incorporate the heat grips on that bar.  Have to investigate this a little bit more.  Pork.

They've been putting heated grips on the TBW Ultras (SE Electra, SE Road Glide, and Ultra Limited) and they work fine.  If they are 1"  handle bars, the heated grips should work with the TBW with no problems.

Honestly, I could see a couple more options rounding out the 3rd year edition of the convertible if'n they decide to make it.   (1) heated grips, if there is a way this can be done.  The bike now has Rumble Collection grips which appear to be 1" ends on 1-1/4" bars.  (2) heated seats, front and rear  and (3) water-cooled engine.  I might think this all would add probably $2000 to the price tag of the '11 so would put the '12 about $31,599 if math serves me well.  Would the bike be worth that much??  With all those options, I would think heck, yes!  Life is about choices however, and am not sure enough people would agree with me.  It's beginning to encroach on the priice of the Ultra Classic CVO, even tho the Ultra is more costly yet.  Seems there is never a ceiling to Harleys.  But so far, the Water Hog is still waiting in the wings to be introduced.  Not a matter of "if" but more of "when".  And which model will herald that new feature into the lineup????  Anybody else agree that these features would convince people to "pull the trigger" and buy one??  If they don't go over the top on the '12 convertible, I can't see them offering a '12 convertible at all......... Personally, I think water cooling is quite a feat.  If you've studied the V-Rod at all, you'll know what I'm talking about.  I think you'd lose that classic V-Twin Harley look by going to a water cooled scooter.  JMHO.

Anybody????  I do not know for sure, but does this resolve the question of whether heated grips may or not work on the 2011?  Pork

oki i have an answer from the techs at harley city, whether heated hand grips can go on ,
yes, but need to use the touring model grips, as they are the only ones in the range with the fly by wire throttle, havnt done it yet as it is nearly summer down under, but after riding the last 10 years with heated grips, they are the one must have accessory

Beautiful paint job.  I just can't for the life of me see myself removing $14,000  (oops, I guess that's just 14 coats) worth of paint and watching it wash down the EPA-approved drain.  But I guess whenever we are riding, a little bit is being blown off each time.  But our hobby is all about choices, isn't it???   Here's to all the imaginations out there that have one of the best canvases in the world to draw on!  Let's see.......if I didn't have to personally explain to someone where did all that paint go?......what could I see on my bike..............   Beautiful!  Ok, I'm a believer!  Merry Christmas all of you!    (the) Porkster

I would really appreciate if H-D after all got a full bluetooth integration and rds for their sound system - as it is this harman kardon is more or less useless for me except for blasting mp3 through underdimensioned speakers  ;)

Have to agree Kraut,  the sound systems is all but useless for me. Think I'll be using the ear plugs with the Ipod.

well i tend to disagree, the sound system for me is working beautifully, i generally love radio, so i tune to gold 104.3 a 80;s 90;s station and it is coming through loud and clear at 100kmh, maybe my pipes being the screamin eagle pipes, are not as loud as the V+H , but no complaints here .
i would never ride with ear phones as  i still want to hear the traffic around me
