Greetings, I am considering buying a year 2000 Screamin' Eagle Roadglide in the orange/white eagle-head scheme with 35,000 miles.. asking $19,500 plus 6% tax.. in very good conditon.

The reason I have considered preowned is that I have been offered an new '05 Roadglide from my dealership for around 21 grand plus salestax. I've been told this TC88 engine may be slightly underpowered for this touring bike and I would need to install (at least) the Stage 1 engine kit.

So essentially with this SE model in question, I would have the tour pack, great colors and horsepower gain for a little less money..

..what do you think [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Thanks, Brett

Does the Road Glide being offered new by your dealer have a lot of work already done to it?  If not you might consider finding a new dealer.  A new Road Glide's MSRP is $2.5k to $3k less than what they're trying to sell it to you for (depending on options).

Hey Forty4, are you from Georgia AND NewYork?  This is confusing me.  Are you gonna get the RoadGlide now or wait to see if the '06 Screaming Eagle is a RoadGlide?   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]   spyder

Forty4,

Just my two cents: If you have a chance at a 2000 SERG and can afford it, I say buy it. Only 775 (or 750, counting on who you ask or which article you read) O/B/W 2000 SERGs were built, no more, no less. It wasn’t the first CVO bike, but it was the first “Screamin’ Eagle” Factory bike. Besides, my motto is: “I wanna be different; just like everyone else.”

Besides, The folks at CVO added about $7500 in H-D custom parts to the SERG.  Figure inflation, those parts new, are now around $8500. However, some of those parts are now standard, so figure $5500 you would have to spend above and beyond the cost of the new Road Glide to have all those custom parts.

I know you will be happy either way.  Like I said, just my two cents. Good luck!
