Chris Rock is a comedian, that's what he does.  That's his schtick.
Can you imagine Don Rickles getting slapped every time he hurled an acerbic insult?

 It was all staged. Saw a still shot from the video. Wills hand in the air, Chris was leaning into the slap with his hands behind his back. I don't know anyone that would not lean back away from someone swinging at them. Just another publicity stunt. The news says Chris Rock ticket sales have gone crazy since.
