Title: Clearview Windsheild Installation

I got my Clearview Windsheild today  :orange:

Have a quick question about installation.  Reading the HD service manual, it says to tighten the screws 6 to 13 inch-pounds.  I don't have any torque wrench that goes that low.  When I read the installation instructions it mentioned four (4) complete revolutions after feeling some resistance.  If I am reading that correctly, I should only turn the screws 4 times?

Of course, I sometime want to crank down on stuff.  Don't want to hurt the fairing.

I'd not tighten them up to tight, just make them snug. Over tightening them can crack the paint (clear) on the fairing at least it has been known to do that on batwing fairings.

I have two of the CV windshields that I interchange. Never worried about the foot pounds, just tigthtened them up till they felt snug. No problems yet.

Its the seal that goes on the bottom edge to keep rain out and the shield from rubbing against the fairing. There are numerous Clearview shield pictured on this site that show the seal in place.

Even though I bought two widshields I got only one of these gaskets. The problem is that each winshield fits diffrently and while the gasket fits good on one it is too long for the other. My point, Don't cut the gasket too short or it will only fit one.

I got 2 windshield's last year and did not get a gasket............ I feel left out now :(

You will find that if you just tighten(Torque) the screws up when you install the new windshield you will need to re-torque or tighten them up after you ride the bike. They will get to a point where they will stay seated. DONT OVER TIGHTEN!!
