Sort of looking at the WO508's. Anybody gottum? I need about 2/3 inches more pullback. Hep Me, I'z all ears!!!
-
I could use the pull back also. I'll be watching your replies. I'm thinking about 14" Yaffee bars. The wrist angle is supposed to be very good on them.
-
I really wanted to go to a Yaffee Monkey. The only thing thats stopping me is that they just don't look right if pulled back out of line with the front forks. What to do??
-
I had the 508's on a 2004 RK and loved them. I just bought a 2014 CVO RK and hate the bars that come with it. I will either go back to the 508's or possibly the 12 1/2 apes. I couldn't believe the dealership wants 8 hours labor because of the ABS. Any advice on the apes would also be appreciated.
-
If you don't want an Ape hanger, check out the New Wave Bar from BR's custom bars. The also have Bent Ape Beaters, with 5" Pullback and a 22 deg wrist angle. Very nice, just a lil wait for construction. Built to Order also, whatever you need.
These are 14" Bent Ape Beaters.

Yaffee 12" Monkey Bagger Bars. In line with the front forks. I can lean back on the backrest and still reach the bars comfortably.

I went with bars from these guys and they also build to suit for quite a bit less then BR and their service and quality are both excellent: www.vindikta.com
-
ordered BR's ape beaters with drop top, in 14'' .
thought about yaffe but went with BR it is shorter waiting time and I got dimensions that I wanted.
-
Ok guys now it is time for some help. I ordered the Wild 1 502's but Harley is telling me the only extended cables are chrome braided not the pearl black that comes stock with my 14 CVO RK which also means chrome connectors instead of black. They are also saying the lower brake lines need to be replaced when I do the job instead of just the top one which makes since to me since it is longer. The bottom ones do not change. Has anybody else had this issue and if so what did you do?

I have the same bike, how do you like the 12 inch bars? Any chance for a side picture yours is the first one I have seen with them on it. Also how many hours did they charge you? My dealership hit me 600 bucks for the bars and cables and they are telling me 7 hours of labor.
Thanks

I spoke with Magnum this morning and as of this week they will have the clutch cables for 2014 but the brakes are 7 months out still.

I have been running these bars for 25K miles on my 12 CVO Road Glide. Like them so much, I have them on order for the 13 CVO King. Being specially made so I can also add heated grips from the 13 CVO Ultra to it.

Billy, I appreciate everything so far but have one last favor to ask. Do you have the part numbers for the cables they used since my dealer is saying they only have the chrome connectors on the steel braided lines. If you can't get that for me what dealership did the work so I can call them.
-
I went with the 12-1/2" Wild1 W0502's. The guy that put them on for me installed the bars first then measured for the best fit for the cables. The set up is perfect for me.
-
KST Kustoms 12'' mayhems, no cables or wires needed for the RG. made to order & were on the door step in 3 weeks.

Good buy... I thought the box looked familiar. Looks like the same bars and height as mine. Should look awesome when installed.
Good looking ride...

I like those bars. Good looking bike! If I bought a '14, that is the color I would choose.

Quick question, Harley is playing games now saying I need all the brake lines to put on the 502's and replace the riser because of the bigger diameter. Is that what you had to do?
-
Jimmy. I went with the WO 577. 12". I love em. My hands are over the fairing. Mo problem here tho. Brian has the 578s. Only 10". You might want to look at those too. Stuart

I am curious...what do you think of the wrist angle of the Flanders mini apes compared to the Wild1 8.5" baby apes ?? For me, if the wild1's were just a tad less wide they would the great!, but overall I am very happy.

The Flander's are a bit more angled down vs straight knuckles in the wind but I like them on my SERK. However, I completely agree on the W1's about 1.5 - 2" narrower would be perfect. I've had them so long I no longer notice.

Thank you... I appreciate your opinion!

I like the width and angle of the stock handlebars on my 2013 FLHRSE5. I need more reach, no more than 8"-12". Which bar would give the same width and angle would you recommend?

I'm sure this has probably been answered but, i like those bars. did you have to buy any additional parts (wires, hydr line extensions or mounting) for the install?
how much if a pain was feeding the wires threw the bars?
TIA

For the WO513's I was able to use all the stock lines and wiring. The hydraulic lines are easily long enough. The wiring was shortened, but still had just enough to work with. I think I would have liked the 10" vs the 8.5", but the wiring would not be long enough for that deal. I had to get the adapter to fit the CVO mounting area because the new bars are only 1 inch in the center and the bar mounting on our bikes is for 1 1/4 bars.
Running the wires thru the bars was not that bad, but taking the wiring connectors apart and back together was time consuming. I pulled the harness thru the bars tied with a thin cord and a little soap water. So, at the end of the day, I am happy!

Can you give me a break down on prices and part numbers you used for the project?
I was at the stealership today to order the mounting kit for the aux lights I'm doing and asked about the heritage style bars. The parts guy told me i wouldn't need any additional parts to do that swap, so I wondered over to the shop area and asked them how much they would charge to do the bars, ready for this?? He told me the labor alone would be starting at $400.00. They're frigging nuts. I have to find me a good local indy.

Labor to install WO502 on my 2014 was 7 hours just over 600 dollars so you are getting a fair deal.

Hey King, If you gonna go with the WO513 and the lines & wires will work will work, do it yourself. 2/3 hrs with basic skills. Go on youtube and see how to unpin the connectors. If the wires are not long enough and you can't or don't know anyone that can solder, take it in. Amazon has the WO513 for $188 free ship. You will also need the Wild 1 adapter, $65 shipped. $253.....done deal!!!!

Still trying to get over the fact that a trained tech would take 7 hours on a bar swap. I'm definitely doing this my self. Another snow storm coming so this project will keep me busy. I don't think it's that hard or going to take 7 hours. I'm thinking about just going with the heritage style bars they're like $90.00 and the parts guy said I shouldn't need the adapter.
Thanks for all the feedback.
-
After doing some more research I'm not so sure about this parts guy. It looks like those heritage style bars are also 1 inch so I think I still might need the adapter.
Anyone have a part number for the adapter and where you got it.
These look like nice bars. I'm not sure if they would be comfortable or not but, it looks like no adapter would be needed.
http://www.hillcountrycustomcycles.com/LA-Choppers-Hefty-TRUE-1-14-inch-85-inch-Ape-Hanger-Chrome-P2213.aspx
Anyone know anything about these bars or the manufacturer?
TIA

ya, my cuz got some of their 16 inch apes the prewired ones for his RK , they look good and he is happy happy

I decided to take a chance and placed my order for the LA Chopper bars.
I'm thinking I'll wait until I get the bars before I do the aux lights so I won't have to mess with the bars twice.

If they have the rise & pullback you want you did good. No adapter. Their site said you needed to change risers....NO NO, yours will work fine. On the new bars drop a lenght of small chain thru and then pull a nylon cord. Use some lube, I use pulling gel. Go slow, its easy. BTW: Your aux lites won't have wires in the bars and if you relocate your turns they won't either. Another good idea is to take pics of the plugs before you unpin them. Good Luck.

14" carlini gangster apes.

Update.
Canceled the order for the bars. Won't work for tbw. It doesn't specify it in the ad. I wish some of these vendors would be a bit more specific with the fitment matrix.
Back to the drawing board.

It can be a hair puller =) 2k was right, about $253.00 for the WO513 set up. Also, I had the heritage bars on my 2012 RK(you would need something extra due to the 1" center.. looks like you figured that already) and I have found that I like the WO513's better, but they are a little wide... I got adjusted to the width fairly quick thou.
-
You'd figure after the first year the cvo used 1 1/4" bars they would have been producing exact replacements for a reasonable price. Seems like no matter which I go with I'm gonna have to buy extra stuff just to make them work.
Can't win.
thanks everyone for the feedback.

How are they cost wise.
I'm not pinching pennies but the wild ones would run about 250 all said and done, I would just order those before I spend more than that on bars.
I can do wiring/soldering actually for me the wiring is the fun part. The hardest part of this ordeal is finding bars.
