Condolences for your bud. However, this story doesn't pass the smell test. Many of us, like myself, on this site have been riding for better than a quarter century. During that riding time many of us have probably found ourselves in a wobble or two, even a full blown tank slapper, some have even been down because of it, and on various bikes. That said, we all know several mistakes can be made that can lead to that situation at various speeds. But a Regular ole Harley Touring bike does not go into a deadly tank slapping wobble at 55mph, if it did - the company would be bankrupt tommorrow - sell short! Now, I am not unsympathetic, I feel for your bro, but the general statement you made doesn't work when many of us have felt the dreaded wobble on our SE's, Personally I was at about 110 when I felt it last week. Of course I have a grand extra invested in my suspension over stock, so it does handle better and the wobble is less, but my azzz is worth it. And next I am adding the Tru-Track. When you started this thread I read and shuddered as I do whenever I hear of another rider down. All bike have limits, no them. Riding is dangerous inherently, we accept that every time we throw a leg over the saddle.
So when you posted this I cringed, prayed, then became a lil upset about the story. I'm not blamin you Bobby, you could have been told this just as you told us, I'm just not buyin. Out of respect I bit my tongue and watched as my buds here cringed at the thought of another bro down on one of our beloved machines and politely passed along well wishes, I wanted to say what I have said here but bit my tongue. Until now, until I saw the 55 vanished from your post.
