Should have posted this earlier. Eric Medlen died in an accident in Gainesville, Fla. The good die way too young! My condolences to Medlin's family and to John Force Racing! That kid sure had potential. So sad! Hoist! 8)

Every so often we get reminded of the fact that death waits in the wings for all race car drivers of all stripes. Never understood why the Reaper takes the youngest and best though. I've been a John Force fan for his whole career. He's a winner and he knows another one when he sees them. Eric Medlin was headed for a huge career. My condolences to the Medlin family and the entire John Force organization.

Like Brian, I too have been a fan of John Force for his entire career.

NHRA has posted a teleconference with JFR and several other people involved. Eric was not killed in the crash with the wall. According to John Force, the race car experienced an unprecedented case of tire shake after a tire failed. It was this violent "oscillation" that caused the fatal injury.

What a future this kid had, what a shame. But JFR is committed to making Eric's death not be in vain.

Always a shame to see it happen to someone so young.  Interesting that they know the cause so soon.
