I have a couple of different ones for sale at a good price if your interested.  Send me an email and I'll tell you what I've got and how much.  sdavis49  at  agristar.net   I'd list them here but it's the middle of the night and the info is in my garage.  These are brand new-I bought them at the VTwin Expo to resell the ones I didn't want to keep.

What is the benefit of this clutch over the stock unit?

It helps prevent clutch slippage in more powerful engines. Through centrifugal force, the weights are pressed against the clutch to help the clamping force against the clutch assembly. There are different VPC models, with different weights, to change that clamping force based on engine power/displacement.

And it reduces the lever pull required to operate the clutch....

The VPC also helps in better shifting and neutral engagement.

A couple of years ago, I posted an article from Hot Bike on its merits and installation. Tried searching for it and could not find.

For more expert information contact HIPPO (Frank) at HippoVPC@gmail.com. He has literally sold and installed hundreds over the past  4- 5 years.

Yep, that's where I got mine! It does these other things too, but they were never a problem to me, and I didn't care too much about them. I got it to insure no slippage, and at 120HP, have never experienced any, even on the Dyno at 6300RPM. Joe was pretty impressed by that when he tuned it! ;)

Just as a FWIW in case someone is shopping some day and needs a new basket.  That Barnett "Scorpion" clutch pack I used awhile back also survived pulls in to the 120s on the dyno without a hint of slippage.  But for god's sake don't ever put one in with synthetic oil as the lube....

Hello would anyone have some insite on this? The clutch must have the correct amount of travel to release. Can you confirm that this has been checked? Do you know what the travel measurement at the pressure head is?

Thanks!!

I did a complete picture-install thread on installing a new Barnett clutch with lock up a while back. It included measurements on how much travel needed to be on the rod...it needs to be shortened with the Barnett set up.

This isn't to fix slipping due to worn clutches. This is used to help lock the clutch under higher loads from more powerful engines than the clutch was made to handle. If you don't do any engine work, or you've always been fine, you don't need this. And if your clutch starts slipping with a stock motor, it's probably worn out and this won't help. ;)

Roadrunner,

Did they place the baseplate correct?
The baseplate should be BETWEEN the clutch spring and the pressure plate.

The baseplate tabs are too long for the SE clutch in the CVO. So you can not place the baseplate as on normal bikes. You have to slide the clutch spring aside and slide the baseplate behind it.

Did Zippers do the work on this also??  I've got their 107, clutch and baker dd6 installed from them.  So far, the baker has survived. During all my issues, over 2 years, everytime I went back, the guy that worked on my ride didn't exist anymore

Nope Zippers only did the bottom end, timken conversion, etc.  Dealer did the VPC, not sure if they really took their time or not. I need to measure the cover and how much distance with their cut out template.  Thanks for the info!
