« on: February 04, 2009, 08:06:40 PM »

Ok found out and remembered you can not measure from the top of the radio inner fairing as of the rake of the shield. From the top of the speedo houseing would work if someone would measure it.  Thanks Doc

A measurement like this would help WTS posted this a few weeks ago.  Thanks Doc

Doc, Not sure if this will help but here is a pic of the CV Stock Height.  The one you're referring to is probably 1" shorter.

Side View...I'm about 6' and this one kicks most of the wind over my head with slight buffeting at the top of my helmet.  It works real well at highway speeds of 75-85mph and even above that.  This is the one I'll use for long trips.  I'd like to see the same standard measurement on the new Cee Bailey 14 & 15" shields.

Yes, I can see over it.  I'm more like 5' 11" now since I've got a couple dessicated disks.  I also like to sit as far back in the seat as I can...and this seat allows you to sit further back than even my 04 RK Custom.  When I slouch against the backrest, my eyeline is just at the edge of the shield but when I'm sitting upright, kind of like "tall in the saddle" and alert I'm looking a couple inches above the edge.  Since you're over 6' this may be the shield for you...especially during luv bug season down there ;D

Also, measuring like Cee Baily, from the center of the middle mounting screw, this shield is 17 1/8".  It has a pretty good rake as well as you can see.  The closer you can get the shield to your face, the better it will perform at lower heights.  If CB would extend their shield but with the old rake, it would perform better.  The steeper the angle, the higher the shield will need to be to get the burble over your head.

The real problem with the Road Glide is it puts the windshield further forward than the Batwing allowing the burble to be sucked down behind the shield where the air pressure is lower...IMHO

I was asking for height in measurement to compare with the new Cee Bailys shield and since then I recieved this from Cee Bailys. I have a 15" and 14" that should be here tomorrow.  Thanks Doc

Doc, please do the same "ruler" measurement and post pics and a ride report when you get them.

Thanks!  I thought that trunk would compliment the lines of the fairing and I've always liked the "Buffalo Hump" Tour Pak.  I think a dark CB 14" or 15" would make it look even better...we'll see....

I'm putting that same TourPak on my Silver/Titanium when it gets here. I've got it on my Vivid Black '07 FLTR now. Love the look.

I will take all the measurments the same way and give a ride report ASAP.  Doc   I believe I will start a new thread for the report.
