Seat
« on: October 14, 2009, 08:52:07 PM »

What is the most comfortable seat out for a SERG. The mustang seats if u don't like can send back within 10 days for refund or exchange. Are there any others that do this. Iam 6' 3" tall. Other than getting a custom seat made by Russell Day Long but they take a while to get scheduled in. Appreciate any feedback.

Bike iam going to prolly buy has a Lapera sorrento seat on it. I sat on it but it was uncomfortable. It also moved me too close to tank as well. The owner doesn't have the stock seat any longer.

HD signature with rider backrest and passenger pillon , for tall rider it improves the angle in the knee and in the hip , pushes you up about 1" and no push forward . Works pretty good for us and is comfortable too .

I'm 5' 10.9" straight and I'm happy with the SaddlemanExplorer-seat with rider-backrest.
Puts you higher and a little forward, have not measured exactly.

I am 6'4" 230 lbs. went with harley's hammock seat.  kind of looks like the Russell Day long....rode about 700 miles with passenger she loved it compared to the stock RG seat.  My position did not change except about 1/2" taller not a problem for me since i wear a full face helmet.  have tried other seats so far this one has worked for me.

newseultra07,

This is a subjective topic and then some.  I'm 5'11" and went with the Corbin Gambler after looking at the various brands & threads reviewing themr.  Corbin seems to be the only brand that covers the seat mount and is thus longer and thus has a locking mechanism included.  The seat lock gives you some assurance that your custom seat will be on the bike when you get back to it....   Got the yellow piping to dress it up a little.  This picture doesn't show it but after taking it, I applied some brown to the piping to make the yellow match up better.

Rode 1160 in four days last weekend and very comfortable.  I don't use a backrest and don't seem to need it but that's a personal preference as well.  Good luck with your choice!

Harley® Hammock Touring Seat

Protect your backside from harsh road conditions. With its revolutionary fabric suspension system, the Harley® Hammock Touring Seat offers increased rider isolation from sharp road impacts. The sling-like fabric suspension system that is integrated into the seat pan is manufactured from a unique blend of fibers that offer flexibility and durability. The fabric acts like a hammock, providing 2 inches of suspension above the seat pan, with an additional 1 inch of traditional foam on top. This internal suspension prevents "bottoming out" and provides a 30% improvement in comfort and endurance over the long haul by sheltering the rider from harsh road conditions. The vinyl surface is easy to clean and maintain, and is finished with a "Harley-Davidson®" embossed script logo. Can be equipped with Rider Backrest (sold separately) on most models. Seat width 17.5"; passenger pillion width 15".

 53051-09

Fits '08-later Touring and Trike models (except FLHTCUTG). Does not fit models equipped with Passenger Grab Rail P/N 91583-99.

H-D Glendale online price: US $499.95.

Right about that!   it's like asking what the best tasting restaurant is.    I have the C&C and I like it so far although I havent made any multi day trips which is really the only way I know how to truly judge a saddle.   I'm pretty sure there is something wrong with me though,  it's seems that they all hurt my butt after several hundred miles.

I'd like to think so Greg but I hear a lot of these guys talking about riding 500, 600, or even more miles/day, and I quote,  "with no discomfort what so ever".

Not me!   I can do it but it hurts.

I have no problem doing 400, 500 or more miles a day on my Corbin, Even 1000 miles in 24 hours is good on the Corbin. I'm not sayin my body doesn't ache but as for the seat, hey, I gotta get off it every 200 miles for gas.

Anyone bought a saddle from AlligatorBob?  I've just started to talk to him about some options and I like what I'm hearing.  Now I'd like to hear from you guys who have spent some time in the saddle.  All the cool designs won't be worth much if you can't ride in comfort.

Catahoula, the new Corbins are locked into place, see on the side, there is a spot for a key.
I will agree in that Alligator Bob makes come great seats, if high custom is what you're looking for, then Bob is your guy.

So does Grover.  And on the other site Luca had one for awhile.  That one sold to another member here whose name currently escapes me.  Was on a bike that's all flamed out.  With any luck someone who rides one will chime in.

That was always a concern of mine though.  I never knew if his often gorgeous saddles were just recovers over a stock seat or if he started from scratch.  On some if it's just a recover they could be the most attractive uncomfortable seats you never wanted to ride on very far.
