My new "shop bike" - 2002 FLHRSEI Brandywine
« on: November 25, 2009, 12:15:07 PM »

As I have posted here on several occassions, I am still having electrical problems with my 08 SERK4. I missed a lot of riding time this year as a result. I'm too stubborn to just say enough is enough and let her go so I started looking at options.

New bike: don't trust the new ones as much as the older scooters based on my experiences. The 03 Fat Boy I gave my daughter has over 27000 miles on her (two deployments to Iraq slows down your riding time) with nary a problem.

Older Scooter: There are several CVO's I think Harley got exactly right. My 2008 FLHRSE4, the 2000 Triple Red SERG and the 2004 B/B SEEG. These are beautiful scooters! However another favorite is the 2002 FLHRSEI in Candy Brandywine Radical Paint with Flames. This scooter can be a little hard to find at a good price.

My buddy Just Us Six (Brad) let me know about a FLHRSEI for sell in Salisbury, N.C. I asked SBB (Chip) if he would mine looking her over for me. Chip not only looked her over but sent me 38 photos at various angles for me to inspect. I spoke with the previous owner and struck a deal. I further imposed on Chip several other times to deliver a deposit check, pick up all the accessories as well as deliver the final payment check.

With the deal done, Chip and I met up in Lexington, Ky on Sunday. Chip trailered her up to me with all the goodies. CVO cover - back rest - saddlebag liners, saddlebag guards - rear turn signal light bracket - tool kit - registration bracket - detachable sissybar w/passenger’s backrest - Stingray seat insert panels which had been removed

The bike has a Reman motor which was installed on Oct 20, 2009. 1 year warranty! The previous owner had put in a 103 kit. After 20000 miles he had a motor problem. The paper work indicates the inner cam bearings failed. The motor had less than 100 miles on her. The odometer show 34000 total for the rest of the scooter. New tires. Stage 1 A/C. V&H slip ons.

I'd also like to thank Neil for filling me in on what came with the FLHRSEI back in the day.

I'm leaving this bike (motor) stock as I have Lexi (08 SERK) for hotrodding when she's up and running!

I will post better pics if it ever stops raining but her she is at home in the garage. Her name is Ruby!

Of course I did stop by the HD shop on my way home. They've been talking with HD tech and think they may have found the electrical problem. (we'll see) So I said something to the SM about "What would be the best cam to put in Ruby?" He just walked away from me shaking his head.  ;D

I told the SM to ignore me when I start talking about this bike. My son and friends are just threatening me bodily injury. It is a sickness!

Congratulations on finding such a great and rare bike Jeff.  It happens to be one of my favorites also.  We each have different tastes.  But to my eye that is the single best paint set Harley ever delivered.  The candy brandy SERK, the triple red SERG and the red SEEG are the perfect trio of Harley touring bikes.

You got your candy brandy bike all at once.  I'm doing it differently.  Have been in a slow rebuilding process of one for a year or so now.  It's been no rush and I'm actually enjoy the collection process.  Today is something of a big day for it though. UPS is supposed to deliver all or most of the painted parts this afternoon.

Won't be this winter's project.  Final assembly should be next winter's project though.  Unless I get impatient.  Then any rainy weekend after engine work is finally decided on is fair game.

Congratulations again on such a nice bike.  They are very special machines.  Miles of smiles man; miles and miles of smiles :2vrolijk_21: .
