Wow...

Hairy moment this AM.

Rolling out of the neighborhood...lean left to get to the final turn before I get into traffic, and the front rim on the FXR3 jumps the bead. But, not really. Just like the bead broke and all the air dropped. No blowout. And, thankfully, the rim never jumped the rubber, so, no rim damage.

Wrench at the local stealer asked me "How did you get the tire off the rim?" I said "I have no idea. I was leaning into the turn and it just gave out."

The good part? I was able to roll all the way back home on the deflated tire and no damage. Oh, and I didn't fall down-go boom!

Close f'n call though. When they say "what are the odds?" or "It's a freak thing" ....i just had my freak thing, and dodged it.

Roll safe!!!

I plan to inspect said tire tomorrow when I pick her up.

I did get horrible family news today, (after the almost) so, it's been a helluva Tuesday.

I'll let y'all know the verdict ASAP.

So...the final verdict was apparently the tire was low enough air-wise that the bead let go. That's the only thing we could possibly come up with.

I confess..I don't always check pressure. But this is certainly odd. I'd never let the tire run flat.

No harm...and $240 later...I'm good. Course that back rubber looks a bit work now. Sonova....

Wow Neanderpaul !!!  You are so lucky on this one account.  Sorry for your bad family news tho.  It's hard to get in the habit of checking those tire pressures as often as we do the oil & other things, but I bet you do it more regularly now.  Maybe even go to Nitrogen in your tires, 'cause it's suppose to maintain pressure better than all air.  (so I'm told).  Ride safe.  spyder
