LED's in headlight and speaker pods
« on: April 04, 2012, 11:39:56 PM »

Saw these mods on another forum and thought they looked pretty cool.

Put some LEDs inside the headlight assembly

Have to look for some white PIIA bulbs

LEDs in the speaker pods

The red really matches the gages and show even in daylight

I like the lit speaker pods. Any idea where they got the lighting.

From autozone, they were $ 20 ish for the set.  I'll double check where I get home, the name and size you need.  Let's Roll

Gosh, J&M sells the LED grill inserts that fit their speakers and they are something ridiculous like $250 for each pair! $500 for the Fairing and Lowers?  Nucking Futs!

I've seen that.  I did mine for less that $30.00 and it match the red on the gages very well.  Let's Roll

So what did you do? Drill little holes in the side of the adaptor? Take any pics of what you did?

It was actually very easy
Remove speakers (I have the J&M 7.25") leave the spacer on (you can also stick them to the spacer ring).Peel the adhesive backing off the LED strips and apply to the edge of the speakers, start at the top then run it all the way around to the bottom and the tuck the rest right behind the tweeter.  You can do this with the adapter ring on or off.
Run the wire through the slot at the bottom of the spacer and put the speaker back on, making sure not to let the wire come out of the slot.
Then connecthem to your power sorce of choice, I think I connected mine to the amp wires.

They are 24" (2 - 12"strips per package) they are called Flex Led made by Alpena
