Great day to ride !
« on: March 07, 2014, 08:53:14 PM »

So I spent an hour tuning up my chopper and getting ready to ride. Went out for a short put about 50 miles, I was 6 miles from home letting her eat on this little strait away when at about 90 the swing arm bolt snapped and it started to get quite squirrely, and wouldn't make the corner. off the road I went. I tried to ride it out but the ditch was about 4 feet down and about 6 feet up the other side, I lost total control at that point and all I remember is a wrenching in my shoulder and dirt in my teeth. Wife took me to the ER and its not broken, but I have to see an Orthopedic Specialist on Monday because it hurts like he!! when I so much as flinch it. Bike it likely totaled , there wasn't anything I saw that was strait on it.  Thank god it wasn't a tree line and was a grassy field. Will try to get pics tomorrow.

Please forgive what may too easily seem like some morbid curiosity as it's not meant that way at all.  Cautious curiosity perhaps though.  But actually was it that broke and caused the loss of control?

Glad you're going to be ok.  Metal and plastic can be replaced so screw the bike.  Riders walking away is the only important thing.  Be well :2vrolijk_21: .

Never have seen a Chopp that would handle well off road. Thank goodness you walked away from it, at 90 mph few do!!!!!

Thanks.  And when you feel up to it a picture would be great.  Still not sure whether it's the end of the cross shaft itself or one of the two bolts that hold the block to the frame that broke on you.
