Title: Klim
Post by: Supershooter on May 14, 2019, 10:33:21 PM
After getting soaked last summer on our loop down the BRP, we were rained on 2000 of 2900 miles, and had a hard time getting our gear dry each day before we be getting wet again. I stopped by the local BMW shop, which is next door to our local HD shop. They carry Klim riding gear. After visiting with the saleman I'm wondering if the Kilm gear maybe a lot better choice than my current HD gear. Does anyone have any experience with Klim gear. Do any HD shops carry it? The Latitude in Black looks intriguing. Thoughts

I don't know anything about Kilm.  Never even heard of it before.  However, I've rode back and forth across this nation several times with Gerbing eXtreme Element pants and jacket and heated boot insoles along with my Tour Master Elite II rain suit and my Nolan modular helmet and I stay completly dry and warm, no matter how cold, how many miles of driving rain, etc.

I've been riding with these two outfits for probably 12-15 years and they are both still doing the job that they're designed for.  I got both the Gerbing gear and the Tour Master Elite II rains suit at BMW dealership.

I have the Klim modular helmet in carbon fiber. It is one of the if not the lightest helmets on the market and is excellent. I also have their Gore-Tex, waterproof winter gloves which are excellent. Everything I have seen by Klim is excellent.

Klim gear is some of the best you can buy. HD gear does not compare. Period. Also take a look at Rukka. Revzilla carrys both and has many videos that can help you do research before you decide to go and try some on somewhere in person.

Remember, most of HDs stuff is geared towards "image" and "lifestyle". You will get vastly superior gear buying from other vendors

Older brother gave me a set of Klim snowmobile gloves when He got a new set. Clumsy as hell on the bike due to their size but sure are waterproof. I carry them with me on trips for just that reason.

I've got Chrome Cash and was hoping to find a HD deAler that sells Kilm. The jackets look like the they are light years ahead of HD.

Kilm is good stuff, far superior to most any other water-resistant gear but expensive. I have the HD Gore-Tex stuff I bought off a clearance rack in Georgia. It is excellent and I stay totally dry with it, a Shoei Modular helmet and a pair of Held dry gloves. I do spray the seams in the suit, my boots and the gloves yearly with the correct grade of Scotchgard (Green on the suit, Red on the boots and gloves). I have a buddy who swears by Bass Pro Shops 100MPH Gortex pants & coat. Nothing to do with staying dry but I do suggest buying rainsuit large enough to fit over my normal protective riding gear, falling in rain is easier than dry, need all the protection I can get.

Klim is high end, top quality, made for riding comfort and safety. Same for BMW Motorrad clothing. You will find these products at BMW motorcycle dealerships.

Frankly; they value funtion/quality over  everything else. Your local BMW dealer will also be able to fit you properly.

Good luck

Klim is top quality as mentioned. I have some of their socks which are the best for winter riding.

As for rain gear the HD is really hard to beat.

I've used a Klim Powercross Pullover for about 5 years...Gore Tex is top notch in the wet and a capable outer shell for the cold. Good looking and well made.

My Klim stuff is adv oriented.

But here goes, Klim induction jacket (great for summer or hot riding),

Klim Krios Pro Arsenal helmet with the new Koroyd technology (very light and great airflow comes with pin-lock and transition shield)

Klim Latitude pants,  (I'm 6'4" and they make tall versions. I wear 36/36 in Levis and these in a tall fit me great.  This was my first Klim purchase and although expensive as all their stuff is!  It is rock solid in function and durability.)  They are water proof and also offer 2 giant zipper vents on the front and back of each thigh. If it is hot I just wear shorts underneath, for an easy transition when off the bike.

Klim Revolt pullover that I use for mountain biking and motorcycling and just about everything else.

Klim stuff is expensive, but too steal a quote I learned from someone here, "I don't make enough money to buy cheap crap"

The Koroyd tech in helmets is going to be a game changer IMO.  Lighter, better airflow, and safer.

Hope that helps.
