Title: Fork oil in 2012 SG
Post by: Aussie on April 27, 2012, 10:00:31 PM
What colour and type fork oil is factory fill in a 2012 SG.
I noticed a green fluid around the bottom triple clamp running down the fork slide cover on the outside only, looked up into the fork slide cover I couldn't see any wet spots or residue, so don't think its the seal, this has me baffled why the fluid is around the bottom clamp.

Could there be a split or crack in the fork tube?

Make sure it is not grease from your steering neck.  Yes it is grease, but when it is hot outside it can liquify and the run off makes it look like a fork seal is leaking (even though it is not coming from inside the cowl bell)..  Clean the lower triple tree out real well, ride, and see where you end up at with it.

Hit the nail on he head...Thats what I found, grease run off from the steering neck.
Thanks for confirming.

At least that is a good indication that your steering neck DID get greased!
