compression increase
« on: November 16, 2015, 12:56:08 PM »

I have a 2015 cvo wet head
Got a set os SE585 cams
Question
I seen our local Harley shop install the 22502-07b pistons only and get 94HP and 112 TQ
Is the compression  increase worth it with the Se585 cams, race tuner and fuel moto header
and are the KB661C   10-1 better  ( meaning for street use) on pump gas  than the 22502-07B Harley
Any comments are appreciated
Are wet head CC less than air cooled stock  causing Harley # to be even higher in compression than the 105 advertised

On a CVO the chamber volume did not change  ( on a twin cooled 103 they are smaller than air cooled) so the use of the slight dome is fine , or some will mill the head to raise the comp ratio . If you are going to bore and hone a 113 ( run FT piston and you have the same comp ratio 10.1)  is the same price as staying 110 CI  and much better bang for the dollar you would net a much larger and broader tq curve.  10.1 is easy to get with the stock head and a .030 head gasket  by milling good luck

Thanks very much for the help
One other question I have is the screaming eagle part #22502_07B rated at 10.5
Will this piston be nearer the 10.0 or 10.5 in my set up
I release  this is a estimate
Thanks for help

Just did one with a stock 110 bottom end and ported heads at 10.5 that made 121/127. Good combination with the SE58 tb and a good pipe. Had to mill .060 to get there so in your case run the HD piston or go 113 with a flat top.

That will be 10.5+ in most cases.. back to the variance in stock heads.

Thanks for the help
I  am happy that I got some great information
Does make it easier to make my decision
I could not get in my head how 11 CC dome  height volume was going to get 10.5  with a .045 gasket (wet head  size)
and some were  95 CC chamber size
121/127 is very impressive
heads must be  super
I would be happy with 100/105
Most of your  engines running on pump  gas  with the 10.5 ?
Again thanks for the help

113 with stock heads and t/b , you should have no issue getting your numbers.  Hp over 115 you need a t/b .. Either way it will run very well with the set up you are working with.. Good luck . and enjoy the new build  :2vrolijk_21:

that one you did Don is very nice for a 110..

In the end you have lots of options on which way to go. A bump in comp ratio will yield a very nice increase in tq

pretty close to what i ended up doing. i love that cam at 10.5-1, anywhere over 2500 rpm and it will scream all the way past the redline. and I mean scream without falling on it's face in the upper rpm's
