Turtle Wax Ice
« on: June 21, 2007, 12:58:11 PM »

bought some turtle wax ice liquid polish the other day and tried it on the bike...it is pretty amazing...great shine, ez on and off, no white marks like when you get other polishes on the non painted parts, and you can use it on everything on the bike, well not the leather...I would highly recommend trying this stuff. :)

I'm just about out of my Meguiars NXT spray , which I love . I suspect the TW Ice is similar, polymer based , I'll give it a try . Thanks for the review.. ps at Wally World TW Ice is about $2 more than NXT

Just bought some yesterday - you were right, easy on, easy off.  The bike has a wet look to it - I'm impressed.  They also sell a liquid clay bar for deep cleaning.

I have been using the TW ICE as well on my 07 SE Ultra and sure does make the bike shine.
I like how a majority of the bugs just bounce right off and the ones that stick come
right off with a damp rag!
Highly Recommend it!

Unfortunately it hasn't help with the Head Gasket Leak...HaHaHa

I agree, but the TW ice and NXT stuff is cheaper and easier to come by. Local Wally World or any auto parts store. I like the Britemax spray and shine, I think the TW iCe compares to it. Probably the same stuff. once you have the car or bike done with Glare pro polish, wash and dry and then TW ICe and you are good to go.

I tried the TW ice and it's not bad. Doesn't leave wax residue like some waxes do.

Tried some today, easy to use and nice results. :2vrolijk_21: Sorry I was tired and thirsty when I was done so I didn't get any pictures. The paste comes w/applicator and a micro fiber cloth which I thought was really nice.

I really like the car wash too, it was about 7-8 bucks for a gallon, I tried it and really liked the results. Glare is great polish, but the damn car wash is 55 bucks a gallon, thats pretty expensive in my book. I'll stick with the Glare pro polish, but I think I'm going to use the TW ice car wash from now on. If you want to make windows look like they arent even there, try Sprayaway glass cleaner, Unbelievable stuff!

I bought a complete kit of Turtle Wax Ice (polish, detailer spray, applicator, and micro-fiber cloth) at Costco for $19.95.  Love the stuff.  It gives the bike a wet look after applying and the detailer keeps it looking wet.  For the cost difference between Glare and TW, I'll go with the TW.  I'm very happy with it.

I like the wash and the detailer spray, I dont know if I'll ever give up Glare, just because its ease of use. But, I havent tried TW Ice polish so let me know how it goes.

all I know is the "Ice" works great and it's about $80 cheaper than Zano and Glare.  If I need to put it on once or twice more than you would the other too, that's still cheap.  You do the whole bike and then let it sit for about 15 minutes, then just wipe it off with the micro-fiber cloth.  Makes the bike look wet.  I haven't tried it on the cars or truck yet, but it's great on the bike.  The detailing spray works just as well.

SORRY THE LINK ABOVE DIDNT WORK..TRY THIS ONE

Crummy comparison, didnt even have the polishes in there. Wax sucks, Glare is a polish, the difference is night and day. check it out.

The turtle wax Ice is good stuff, I use it on the bike & truck!! Turtle wax also has a spray detailer called Ice Spray Detailer, it's a synthetic spray detailer. It seems to be pretty good also!! I used it once today and no white residue or streaks!! Pretty good stuff, it works really good with a micro-fiber towel!! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

I tried the Ice spray detailer today and it is was the most effortless of anything I have applied to my bike thus far.  It feels super slick, applied S100 Detail and Wax to part of the front fender and Ice to the other and the Ice was noticeably slicker.  I can’t comment on the shine, it was raining out but appeared to have a good sheen in my mediocre garage lighting.

Bought some Turtle Wax Ice at Wal Mart. Washed bike after a week in Sturgis. Applied the ICE. WOW, Easy on easy off. No white power. Paint now has a "wet" look to it. Worked well on plastic and chrome surfaces too. Also doesnt creat static cling for dust. I am impressed. Great advice from the website again. Thanks Guys!!

HERES MY UPDATE ON ICE...
PROS....GIVES THE BIKE A WET LOOK. (I PUT ICE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BIKE AND MY WAX ON THE OTHER SIDE AND RODE THE BIKE TO SEVERAL WATER HOLES, I ASK THE GUYS IF THEY COULD SEE THE DIFF., EVERY ONE COULD SEE A BIG DIFF).SO I THOUGHT ITS TIME TOO PUT ICE ON THE OTHER SIDE. YES IT DOESNT TURN THE RUBBER MOLDING WHITE.
CONS....AFTER HAVING ICE ON THE BIKE FOR A MONTH (ABOUT 950 MILES) I FOUND 3 CHIPS IN THE PAINT. ONE ON THE FRONT FENDER,ONE ON THE GAS TANK AND ONE ON THE LEFT SADDLE BAG.
I AM NOT A EXPERT ON WAX..BUT I PUT MY OLD WAX BACK ON THE BIKE LAST WEEKEND..IF I WAS SHOWING THE BIKE IN A CONTEST I WOULD PUT ICE WAX ON THE BIKE..BUT FOR RIDING AND PROTECTING THE PAINT I WOULDNT USE IT..
THERES MY 2 CENTS ON ICE..WHAT DO I KNOW?
BE SAFE MICHAEL

I'm telling you guys...wash your bike with Dawn dishwashing liquid to strip off all the old waxes, silcone based stuff, etc., then Polish all painted and chrome surfaces with Glare products and forget about all the other stuff you've ever used...throw it all in the trash can.  There is nothing out there to compare to Glare!!!  I'm serious.  Just ask anyone who's seen my bike, BigDaddy's, 103tHunder, ReGGAB's, and several others on this site.  You want a wet look all the time with the best paint protection?  Nothing else comes close.

After a couple of weeks with TW Ice on my bike and a washing or two or three I am still impressed. Bugs seem to wash off the fairing easier with Ice than other products I have tried. With the ease of putting on and removing I think my bike will get Iced with more frequency than in the past.

I like the TW Ice, I'm sure not everyone will agree, as far as it not protecting the paint from chips and scratches, well I don't know if wax is suppose to do that, is it  :nixweiss:

I like that it goes on and comes off nice and it does make it look good. Is it the best stuff out there, probably not!! But it seems to be pretty good and as long as I don't have to keep getting the white stuff off of everything, well thats worth it to me!  :coolblue: :coolblue:

Based on reading this I tryed TW Ice and it as most of you described. Really great results and it looks like I could polish the bike about 25 times with one bottle.   Really like the fact it comes with the applicator and cloth as well.

Thanks for the recommendation

AFTER DRIVING THE MTNS OF NC (700 MILES) THE PAST FEW DAYS...THE WAX I USE HELD UP GREAT. THERE WERE NO PAINT CHIPS ANY WHERE. I DONT THINK ICE WOULD HAVE..
ABOUT THE BEST ARMOR TO USE...HERES WHAT I WOULD DO..
PARK THE BIKE IN THE GARAGE ...AND NOT RIDE IT..JUST JOKING..I AM AWARE THAT ANY TIME YOU HAVE THE BIKE OUT, THE PAINT COULD GET CHIPPED.

WHICH I DID..OH WELL THATS ANOTHER STORY..

I know what miraculous protectant he's using on his bike that prevents paint chipping...everybody should have known this...it's so obvious.

Are you ready???

I tied the Turtle Wax Ice last weekend and I really liked it.  Easy on and off with a great shine and no residue worries.  I would definetly recommend it to my friends.

Tried the ice and also eagle one nano wax. Both seemed good and easy on and off. My dad and I both seemed to think the eagle wax was easier to buff a shine with on the darker colors. The ice was great on the silver and gold bikes but on the black race cars it seemed to almost want to leave streaks. Eagle wax didn't. Just my little imput on the subject.

It really is some good stuff...

The Turtle Ice is probably good for a quick detail, but for more serious work, the Glare is hard to beat.

I have the Sahara as well...bought it thinking it would be a quick thing to use on the road, and it does work, though it is not as easy to apply as I'd hoped, but with the water shortage we are likely to face this coming riding season, it, being a waterless cleaner that actually does as clamed, it may come in handy.  Washing scooters may not be an option here in B'ham next summer.... :( :nervous:

It hasn't been an option here since this past summer.  I still can't wash mine w/ a hose.....have to give it 'sponge baths' & I'm really not liking this.  You can't really get it squeaky clean everywhere unless you can pour the H too O on it.  :(  spyder

Water restrictions were finally lifted here. I got to handwash/wax my truck last week after several months. Scooter got a good detail just before the restrictions set in, and wipe downs have kept it clean for the most part.

I don't think they'll lift our restrictions, instead it can only get worse this year since they're already saying we'll be completely out of municiple water by the summer and have to start buying it from others.  Not good all around.  :( aaaargh.  spyder

We are no where near the rainfall we should be, but we've been getting some lately. Besides not enough rainfall our problem is growth, not enough reservoirs, and the reservoir needs to be dredged. :(

TW wax, is exactly what it says, it's a wax! You rub it on and when it's ready, you whipe it off, Just like you would wax your auto's with!!
The TW ice polish, is a detailer, you use it to clean the bike or auto's in between waxes!! Instead of using water, you can spray the ice polish on ( or Mothers "showtime" polish, which is what I use now.)  and wipe it down and it gives it a nice clean shine on it, without having to wash it with water and have to go thruogh all that!!
If you use micro fiber towels, it works really well!! The detailers are nice and they are not hard on the paint!!

Next time you are going riding and the bike has just alittle dust on it or some hand prints or whatever, you can clean & detail it with the Detailer spray and it will look nice in half the time it takes to wash & detail!!  :2vrolijk_21:

Hope that helps alittle bit!! :2vrolijk_21:

Maybe.

Was talking to a real smart guy on Tuesday.  He & I agreed that waxes are like religions.

The Glare religion is too rich for me, though.    ;)

Howie, the people that like it really like it.  Figure it must be good product.  I have a few waxes about 2 shelves worth of waxes already.  Justify it the same way we justify spending $$ on a CVO.   :nixweiss:

I still use the TW Ice and the TW Ice Detailer.  I like them both and I've found I only need to use it twice a year on the Jester.  Once in the spring and once in the fall and I use the detailer in between.  Great stuff, IMHO, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg for glasaplexin or whatever they call that stuff in Glare.

I cant believe you guys that buy the top of the line special bikes would even consider using anything less than the best to protect and shine them. Glare period. Oh, how my ears( I mean my eyes) are hurting right now.

Glare is a good product I'm sure...but grossly overpriced.  I can get just as good of results with 3-M sealer, scratch and swirl, and TW Ice at probably a half the price.

I take just as good of care of my bike...the highest price doesn't always mean it's the best.

I am so glad I came across this thread...I will be going the TW Ice route this weekend, and will buy the wash too. Been using the two mit wash routine since reading it on one of these threads, really helps. Also bought one of those "special" Harley drying towels...works better than a chamoise...

I bought the Ice and I also have the NXT here.  I did half the hood of my BMW with each.  I will never use the Ice again.  I ended up going over the Ice half with the NXT to finish up.  The Ice did the worst job of any wax I have ever used.

What was so bad? Was it all the rubbing to get the polish off?  What color did you use it on.  My wife has a dark red car and I put it on thinking it would be easier than wax.  It left like dark wet marks where the polish did not come off and I had to wipe it over and over.  I usually use Nu Finish wax because I like to do it out in the driveway and it won't bake on in sunlight.  I am not sure of the quality of wax but it is easy to use.  I am going to try the Honda glare and see what the buzz is all about.  I will post in the spring due to no heat in the garage and snow on the ground.

How did you put the TW Ice on?  If you put it on like normal wax, rubbing it in in a circular motion, it will do what you said.  If you put it on the way it says on the bottle, applying the wax by putting some on the sponge and just lightly pulling it in one straight direction accross the surface and leaving a "wet" appearance to the surface.  Let it sit until it dries and then buffing it off with a microfiber towel.  I've never had any of the issues you stated when applying it the way the manufacturer says to do it.  I'm just sayin'....

I was told a long time ago that all wax should be applied in a straight direction (much like paint is applied) and this will prevent swirl marks. Makes sense to me as you are following the same motion that the paint was applied. :nixweiss:

Just use plain old Turtle paste wax, slap it on any old way, wipe it off and buff up the surface and you've got as good a shine as any of these "new and improved" products with dipchit instructions on application.

Sheesh, what's next, telling you to wait for the 3rd phase of the 3rd moon of the 3rd year of the third decade of the new century for that perfect shine ?

Ok, first hand knowledge here.
Bought GLARE polish and wash. Came Monday. Cleaned wifes bike yesterday. Sat down last night and used the Glare. Oustanding. ez apply and buffing. Over the years I have tried many products, Used the 3-M line of Pro products, actually cost more than the Glare. It can't hold a match to Glare.
We speak of cost, I got the wash and polish for 40 bucs all in. So cost is not the object. If they would have said, Look, your bike bike will look like this for this  much money, I would have spent more.

So if you use GLARE, are you supose to use the GLARE WASH/SOAP too?

I have seen other threads where they have stated what they use and they have said you have to use that brand of wash/soap otherwise it will eat the wax/polish and you will not get the results you want.

It's supposed to add some more protection as you use it, but it doesn't suds up much for me, so I use whatever car wash I have laying around.  I probably like the Harley stuff about the best, actually.  Also, cars and trucks get washed at the car wash with whatever soap they're using - Still have a great Glare shine on everything.

Oh,
I got one of those. It's called ME. I get on the bike and ride it every day or so. When I had 4 bikes, I'd ride a different one every day. I guess I'm too lazy too hook up the gizmo thingy.

Yes, as soon as it gets cold I hook mine up.  I was advised to make sure you get the one with the automatic/float so it charges the bat. when ever it needs it and it is not a constant charge.  I have thought about getting the new Harley global 5 amp charger.  ANYONE HAVE THOUGHTS?

that's the ticket!  I do have a question for you guys 'up Nawth' with multiple scooters........do you have all of them on battery tenders all winter?  :nixweiss: spyder

Just wondering if Brian and others with 3, 4, or more bikes have a dedicated BT for ea. one or if they buy the big one like the shops have that handle multiple bikes?  ???  spyder

The battery in the SERG took a dump like the day before it got stored last fall, so it sat with nothing on it last winter.  When I got the FXR3 this spring and put a new battery in the SERG at about the same time, I picked up a 2-in-1 unit that I run on those bikes.  The SEEG and the other toys are all on dedicated units.

I run a BT on both bikes all year round and put the 5th Wheel battery on a BT during the winter storage months when I pull it out of the trailer and put it in the garage.

But you will.   8)  Keeping a battery tender attached to your bike will cause a reverse-ionized molecular structural imulsification to the paint at the atomic level causing a solarization effect so brilliant and durable that even glassplexin in its most complex molecular bonding can't duplicate.  At least that's what I heard.

I always find it helps when you break the word down to its base parts.

Emulsification

Emu--Big assed mean bird that can't fly so will always stay around and choose to peck the crap out of you and spit in one pint increments with amazing accuracy

L-- Lazy

SiFi--Science Fiction

Cation--tail end of vacation; the trip home

So, we have a huge mean lazy pecker spitting across outer space on its way home.  See, makes perfect sense when you just break it down.

Jerry

Jerry - Since I have personally used Turtle Wax Ice more than 3 times & have even read the back of a bottle, on the internet I would be considered one of the world's foremost authorities on all waxes & polishes, if I had a website.

The back of the bottle says:  Quote (well it doesn't actually say Quote but I am quoting) DANGER: Harmful or fatal if swallowed.  Contains petroleum distillates. Do not induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.  Combustible.

The answer to your questions is: maybe.  But it is best to have a non combustible physician nearby if anyone decides to try this at home.

Pledge! It has been around for 30 years and I have used it for at least 25 on everything from custom paint jobs on cars to fancy paint jobs on bikes. It goes on with a light mist and buffs out with a cotton t-shirt. There is no polish or wax that goes on as easy. I use it on my new bike. Paint, chrome and windshield. You can have your choice of lemon or orange scented. Who knows, your wife might want to put it on that rare 15th century Louis XV hutch you have in your living room too. It is cheap too. Can lasts 3 or 4 months if you use it 2 times a week.

Anyone here use Honda Pro Cleaner? I have used it for years and love it. It is good on anything, and easy to use. Aerosol, so it is easy to apply and will do its part to warm the earth. (If you believe in that sort of thing..)

I too have used it for years with no complaints.  I like how easy it is to put on and take off.  Some say that Pledge is the same thing. Not sure but I have seen people use it.
