Swing Arm Paint Rub - 2008 FXSTCSSE2
« on: June 30, 2008, 06:07:53 PM »

It is upsetting that, after spending $27+K on a custom bike and less than 100 miles when noticed, you'd have this issue.  So far, no response from the dealership who was supposed to contact the factory.

That's a shame. I remember others posting about the same problem. I don't recall their outcome.

Rhino,
First off welcome to the site glad to have you join us. :2vrolijk_21: Second that really sucks what has happened to your swing arm. It would appear that something isn't aligned right and it should be taken care of. Since you have reported it to the dealer I'm assuming there is no way that anything you would have added to the bike caused this. If I'm correct in that assumption then they (MoCo) should take care of it for you. Good luck.

Also when you get a chance you should go to this board - New Member Introduction and start a thread to introduce yourself.

Other's have posted with this same issue, and I believe the cause was found to be a bent frame.  You may want to search through the Springer threads to find it.

Jerry

Here are two threads on the same issue:

Had same problem on my 08 orange springer also noticed after only 100 miles. Brought to dealer and had replacement swingarm (under warranty) in less than a week. You should have no problem at dealer or with factory, my case was documented to harley.

It is a shame after all the money there should ever be a problem like this.

Well good luck enjoy the bike I am!!!!!  :orange:  :huepfenjump3:  :mango:  :bananarock:  :jalapeno:
