I think you will have to remove it and then re-install it...........I am at work and will look in my 2007 FXSTSSE manual
when I get home and post the info here.

remove by gently pulling upwards.

Do Not Twist.

There is a gasket, Discard and install new gasket.

You will have to remove the seat, and slide back the gas tank and disconnect the fuel gauge connector.

This is in the "SOFTTAIL MODELS service manual" under fuel gauge removal.

my manual is for the year 2007, so yours will be the newer one.

good luck, Richard

unless you don't have enough slack to pull the gauge up far enough to be able to reseat it........
you don't need to remove the seat and slide back the gas tank to unplug the fuel gauge connector, you can reach it from under the tank, you need to unclip it from the little tab that holds it to the frame first.

there's no need to fully remove the gauge unless it's broken, and even then you don't have to completely remove the gauge wires that go through the tank.
on the bottom of the gauge, the wires go into a plug that's plugged into the bottom of the gauge, you will need a small screwdriver or spring hook to get in there and gently unplug it from the bottom of the gauge assy... :2vrolijk_21:
