Leaks

Just noticed the clutch resevoir is leaking on my 09 FXSTSSE on the top of the handlebars.Just a small leak that is still under warranty.Anybody have this happen.

   yes. if the cover screws are over tighen it can pinch the gasket. cover your tank and any paint . your
that fluid is dot 4 and will eat every thing in sight.  good luck.    axil

One other thing to consider is that as the clutch wears, fluid level increases in the reservoir.  That is why there is an expansion area in the reservoir to allow for the increase in fluid as the clutch plates wear.  This could happen if you overfill the reservoir then as the clutch continues to wear, the fluid is being pushed out by the gasket.

My dealer replaced my master cyclinder under warranty on my 09 SEEG. I was on a tour when it started and persevered with cleaning the gasket, checking alignment, tightening screws - not so tight screws, removing fluid, adding fluid. On inspection the lid appeared to be a poor cast with no continuous mating surface. All good now.
