I picked up a Motorola MA1 recently to see if I could figure out a better way of using Android Auto without the wire coming out of my faring cubby to the phone.
It works great. It actually solved 2 problems I have been less than happy with. 1. I had a hard time finding a phone cord that would last more than a few rides if I wanted to close the cubby door while the phone was connected. 2. when I would turn the bike off, the system would default to FM radio when starting up again if I unplugged the phone between rides. Now, the bike starts up and immediately (10-15 seconds) starts to look for the Android Auto connection, and doesn't launch with FM at all.
So far I am happy with the solution. everything works just like it would if the phone was plugged in. and now I can put the phone in the saddlebags and out of the sun and rain(if needed).
FYI: this also works for Apple CarPlay.
Now I am thinking I can get rid of my handlebar mount for the phone.
