Title: The end of the cvo street glide?
Post by: Fireguy on November 04, 2013, 10:34:07 PM
Will Harley bring it back? I stopped by the dealer and saw the red cvo ultra. SWEET. Love the features but wish you could get the two bikes in one. Street glide has the extended saddlebags, lower stance, rear taillight, ect. But the ultra has its pluses.  Any thoughts?

Both are nice bikes, add a detachable tour pack (I did and never took it off) on the SG and ya have an Ultra Lite.  As for anther issue of the FLHXSE, I'd bet a 6 pack on it returning.

The SG will be back for sure way to much interest in that bike to let it go.

That's how the MoCo keeps the popularity up. Take something away and it just makes folks want it more. On the other hand, it also keeps the value of the current ones up. Have a 2010, SESG its still my favorite bike to ride.

I would be surprised if it came out as a CVO.  There are other models that match the styling queues that a CVO would incorporate, and a heavily modified FLHXI would come pretty close as well.  The marketing profile has changed and the heavy cruisers are on their way out and the bar bikes are in.

I'm just happy I bought the '14 SG Special!  It's one cool mofo.  I don't think I'll have any engine troubles that seem to plague so many of the 110's.  Plus, it's not a Burger King!  You get it their way, or you don't get the SOB at all!

So far this is the end of them & man I'm glad I bought mine when I did. I'm sure though that at some point there will be another CVO Street Glide. I was at a dealer a few weeks back about a hundred miles from home that I had never been to before & when one of the salesman saw my bike he asked me if I'd like to sell it because he said that he had a list of people that we're looking for one, I said no & he said he didn't blame me. The MOCO would be foolish to not do another one.

I would feel safe betting a hell of a lot more…..

You sure about that Ken?  Annual production of about 1.4 million tons?  Just think what you could make on eBay with all that tea!  :huepfenlol2:

You must really have that one set up perfect, because your old one, that you sold runs very well and still looks brand new!!!

Heard the same thing...also, with the changes in the 103 this year (cams etc.), I can't help but think that some version (i.e. detuned) of the 120 should be appearing in the CVO's...96 versus 110 worth the "uptick" (to some anyway) but 2014 103 versus 110 not big enough "spread" anymore.

I was referring to HD's emphasis on non-touring models, eg. the two new bikes released last week. It seems (to me) that the MoCo has made a marketing decision toward more offerings in that group. For me and guys my age, heavy cruisers will never go out of style.

Maybe the reason there isn't a 2014 CVO Street Glide is because they didn't want one with lowers to accommodate the radiators.  -Getting TOO close to an Ultra perhaps. :nixweiss:

There will be other CVO Street Glides.....don't think they're gone for ever.  It'll be back and I suspect with some kind of big change or upgrade.

Their flagship, the Ultra Classic has been beat to death.....they could probably stand to take a break on that line.

You go, Ken. I don't have as much on Scarlett as you have done, but I feel the same. Once she's fixed they will have to pry her out of my cold dead hands.  I do have to say, if I ever did get a new one, I think I would have to go to the dark side. I enjoy riding my husbands RG custom, but it may just feel so much lighter because of the fixed fairing AND the fact there aren't lower fairings, which adds a lot of weight.

If the CVO Street Glide does reappear in 2015 form... I might just be in so much trouble with the wife for trading! I imagine we will not know until around september, right?

In 2010 on July 27th they held the Harley dealer show. By 2:00 pm that day pictures of the 2011 line up where on the internet.

I was at the Harley dealer by 4:00 pm putting a deposit on my ride. :huepfenjump3:

If there is another SESG in the future, I would bet my bottom dollar it won't have the cool ghost flames like the '12s do. The MoCo is too cheap to do another paint job like we have again...

Over the last few years I've traded every 2 or 3 years, (2000' 2003' 2007' now this 2010). I'm due, but I have looked at every Rushmore, every cvo model and the only model that even tickles me is the cvo breakout. That said, I'd only go that way if it was an addition to the stable. I love my FLHXSE and have upgraded it as much as I can, still and all, if they did a cvo Rushmore street glide.... I'd start all over yet again!

For a while there it seemed like H-D was using the CVOs to showcase that year's new models and new P&As. Not so much any more, or I would've expected a CVO'ed FLHXS for '14. I kind of doubt that they determine new CVOs in order to keep previous years' values up, either. Probably all driven by market analysis and producing factory custom versions of what's big in the indy custom world. When Road Glides were in fashion, they put out several years of CVO RGs.

But I don't know. Me and Keith Wandell don't hang out much like we used to.

Been looking the last little while at bikes trying to decide to keep the 2011 Street Glide CVO or move on to the next. I'm not happy or can not get exicited about anything in the line up. Also I'm afraid they will bring in the 120 engine and throw it into a Street Glide for 15. I have to look back to the 2009 RG orange CVO to even start thinking about moving off my SG. Looks like it time to hang on and see what happens for 15.......
