Title: Map Update
Post by: drgmis16 on September 29, 2019, 09:37:03 PM
Tonight attempted to get one of the free navigation updates from HD which sent o NaviExtras site.  Created account and installed the toolbox and plugged in a flash drive with about 14Gb of free space.  The toolbox keeps displaying "No device is connected". The flash drive light is on and the computer shows it being connected. When click the "Not Logged In' get message "Please connect device to this PC with a USB cable".   Do not see this happening!  Tried clicking various things and reading and can not get this program to recognize the flash drive!  Before throw this laptop out the window and go back to paper maps, does anyone know the proper buttons to click or sequence to get this flash drive "acknowledged" or "connected" so can get this "free" map update?  There might be a thread about this also and will search also in case this has already been discussed. Thanks for help in this.  :confused5:

You have to have a fingerprint from the bike on the thumb drive.

Thanks for the links and directions to the correct path. Finally got the update to take, 2016 to 2018. One problem was that the thumb drive was not the correct size. Had to go through the download and try it in the bike a few times before realized this. Should have checked the manual before but need at least a 16Gb flash drive for the update to go though.

Possibly. I believe it was 3 free ones within the first 5 years. Not sure of you're inservice date on the bike so that could very well play into it.
