Once, on my round trip ride from San Jose to Milwaukee for the H-D 100th party, I left LaCrosse, Wisconsin at about 5:00 AM. The sun was about 25 feet in dia. and it was as red as can be. It was just me and an 18-wheeler, cruising along staring into the sun. It was mesmerizing. As the sun rose, it slowly changed from bright and deep red into orange, and finally yellow (couldn't look at it then) and took all of 15 minutes. I remember waving an acknowledgement to the trucker as we both enjoyed that awesome beauty! Just remembering...

I'm doing my third Iron Butt event this August.  I'm old, out of shape and not real bright.  If I can do these then you young smart studs/studlets sure can.  I'd love to post my ride on this site so maybe others can join me but I'm too afraid of making a mistake like whether or not it's a CVO sanctioned event.  Oh well.......DREBBIN

Drebbin, it's really quite simple.....Maggie Valley in the east or the Western CVO owners GTG each year.....are CVO events and not Iron Butt rides although they may be iron butt rides if you have to ride far enough. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

JC, every other post in this thread is from July of 06 or prior.  Believe that predates the software change.  A LOT of posts had their response text stripped in the software change.

When I bought the pumpkin I flew to Great Falls, MT to pick it up on Friday night, got a room there, and was home by 9:30 PM Saturday (1100 miles or so)...

For the last four years I have rode an Iron Butt route in December to the south of course. December 27th, 2006 I completed a 1548 mile run (according to Garmin) within 28 hours and 14 minutes. It was cold and wet.

The distance itself is enough of a challenge - add "cold & wet" & that magnifies it significantly.  Kudos for completing that one (as well as the others).  :2vrolijk_21:
