It just never stops, right?  Customizing that is...

Today (more than 8 years after purchasing my dream bike) I finally have the tank badges that I've wanted at least since 2011 when they first came out on the SESG's.

The Duracell came with very nice badges as pictured here

However, within the year I changed the badges out (mainly because I thought the red clashed with the copper) for emblems for a V-Rod and added the black paint inside the letters.

I also painted my lowers Black Onyx - the way I always felt they should have come from the factory... just like all other bikes with lowers, matching the lower portion of the main fairing and sides of the front fender.

... and finally today I have them just the way I always wanted.

I'm not too sure who was more surprised (me or the parts manager) that these tank emblems were not restricted!

I can't agree more with the lowers. Makes a huge difference. Nice job.

Got a part number?

using the parts finder from st Charles, I got the following:

58889-05     vent, lower (right)
58890-05     vent, lower (left)

showing them to be $14.17 each.  don't know if st Charles is a discount dealer or if that is msrp and what you'll find them for at your local.

I want to put those same badges on my CUSE5.
Aren't those on the FLTRSE 09?

Excellent; much appreciated.  Surdyke has them for $11.xx + $7 shipping, so I might just pick up a pair and do a little experimenting.  :2vrolijk_21:

Fxd_TD that is what it looks like after the cut back.

Still wouldn't mind seeing a photo of the cut-out just to see how you cut-back the third arm of the molded-in support bracket.  I'm assuming you removed it back to the hub?

So, after being inspired by OBB's hack I ordering some new vent doors from Surdyke  and then pulled out my Dremel tool and proceeded to hack-up my existing vent doors.

As mentioned in an early post, I wanted to see if I couldn't come up with a way to add some type of screen to the lower fairing openings to make them less obvious: I opted to use some expanded steel mesh.  The whole project and all of the photos are on my blog: https://ridingtwoup.wordpress.com/2016/08/06/adding-vents-to-the-harleys-vent-doors/

Here are some of the photos:

I like that Idea a LOT and I happen to have some spare lower vents laying around. I also have a Dremel tool, rivets, and a rivet gun in the tool box.. I might just have to buy me some steel mesh or screen material....
