I have a Harley tire gauge that runs from 0 to 14. Running clockwise, 0 to 2 shows red (warning) and 2 to 2.5 shows yellow (warning) on the gauge. My front tire (original Dunlop that came with bike) has 11,000 miles and reads 3.5. How many miles would I have left? Thanks for your response.

On my past bikes I would get over 16,000 they still had some tread but getting old, when I changed them.

Not a whole bunch of miles left! But......variables such as braking, speed, temperature....

I just replaced my rear tire getting ready for the season. Probably could have stretched another couple of thousand miles depending on wet streets oil on road etc. not worth it to me. Couple guys that came in the dealer said man I would ride it till its bald. Different strokes. Front tire is great but there again I won't run it till its a detriment to me or my wife.

If in doubt replace it. IMHO

I used to think the two most important things on the bike were the motor and tranny and that's where my money went first.  Now I know the two most important things on a bike are the brakes and tires.....two areas I don't skimp and always first priority.

Can't possibly determine mileage remaining by using 32" markings. To many variables. You do know the tire has wear stripes in the tread? Check those and do not wear past for sure.

Yeah it's close to the bars. I'm just going to replace the tire now rather than wait

Bill....as a side note, the closer you get to the wear bar the faster the rubber goes.  You may be already noticing that if you're riding regularly.

I don't know the technical explanation.  I'm guessing it's because the rubber closer to the center of the tire is a softer compound than the rubber on the outter side of a new tire. 

Maybe somebody in the "know" will come along and confirm and explain.
