Post by: michaelokielee@yahoo.com on October 31, 2018, 03:35:19 PM
I was going to install the following Highway Peg Mounting Kit and will not fit Chopped Engine Guard!!  Has anyone honed a set of these to fit the Chopped Engine Guard. :pepper:

Yep -  I ground a little off the back of each peg where the lower stop adjustment is until they fit level.  It is invisible when installed.    Is that the problem you were having?

Hey Michael if it's a grip problem like I had you just need to go to the hardware store and pick up a couple inches of grip tape. They sell it in different widths and usually by the foot. The problem is with the chopped engine guard there is hardly any straight surface to attach to, so it makes a secure fit a little tough but the grip tape will do the trick. You only need to cover about 1/3 of the circumference of the bar.

Hope this helps.

Against my better judgment, I had the dealer put them on with some other work that was being done since they cut me a deal on the labor.  They told me they couldn't get them closed, but now that I know they will fit with some small mods I will put them on myself.  Thanks for the pic and the quick response guys! :pepper:

The picture is the short angle mount, and rear foot pegs used as hwy pegs. It was a struggle to get them tight enough to get the bolt to thread, but I got them both done.  Ben on for a year now

^^^Exactly how I did mine Dave. It was an expletive laced endeavor. Wish I'd thought of the tape trick.

Yes, it was for me too.  Took my about 5 times as long as it usually does to install hwy pegs.

Finally got them installed, I used a Brake Hone in my electric drill to remove the high spots and get them to close.  I will have no problem with them turning or coming off, it took a lot of torque to get them closed.  But they did not strip out the threads, so I call it a successful install, lol! :pepper:

I think I would have them tour off my first ride.... or crashed, be careful cause your going to loose some lean angle with them

I see some of you moved your rear peg up...but. is there part numbers for the 19 cvo RG foot pegs with the red insert?  My dealer is telling me I have to get the red inserts and the normal silver insert pegs...then use a heat gun to remove the silver insert, then glue in the new red insert. That seems kinda crazy.  I saw somewhere that you can order the passenger floorboards with red insert...but I haven't found the foot pegs.

I am interested in hearing if the Ciro highway peg mounts impede the lean angle as well. I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on these but have hesitated so far for this reason. Hoping to hear some positive feedback as I like the design.

I’ve had the Ciro frame mounted highway pegs mounts on for about 3,000 miles, no issues at all. That said I haven’t been to a place like the Tail of the Dragon since istalling them but no issues anywhere I’ve ridden. They replace the stock front floorboard mount so that part is not an issue. They do not give you the flexibility to move the highway peg very high, but again they work great for me.
One note on quality.. I ordered the black mounts and when they arrived one of them had a chip. It wouldn’t show when mounted so I didn’t worry about it. Since then there are two visible areas where the powder coating has popped off. Could have been hit by road debris but the bike has 4,200 and not another scratch on any part other than the peg mounts. To be fair I have not called Ciro as I touched them up and kept on riding. Might have them recoated this winter.
