I know that H-D had been considering the shutdown of the York plant (too costly to keep in operation, supposedly).  Have not heard that it has happened yet;  nothing on H-D's web site about it.  Did a GOOGLE search and all articles about the possible closing seem to be from May, '09.

My understanding is that Harley has laid down the concessions to the union that will keep the plant operational in York.
There will be a vote in December.
If not agreed to, then the plant will be moved.

The York plant was closed down for a week (9/27 - 10/3).  They went back to work last night.

No, but one of my customer's husband works 3rd shift in the paint shop.  The funny thing is, HD is considering closing the plant because labor rates are too high and yet her husband can get all the overtime he wants.  Sounds like a management problem and not a rate problem.

Opossum,

York is shutting down 11/1 for "3 months." Whether or not the open back up is anyone's guess. :soapbox:
