One of the features I most like in IE7 is the tabbed browsing feature. It allows you to have multiple browsers open in one window. Makes it real easy to catch up on posts if you've been away from the site for a while. You can be reading one thread and having another load up while doing that. Another feature I like is the search feature built in, no need to open another page to search, just set who/what you want to be your search engine, type in what you want to search hit enter and it starts searching in browser tab you have open.

However there are some compatibility problems (weather banner here) w/other programs running w/it. They can be fixed/worked around just takes some time and determination. Thanks again Neal. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I did the IE v7 download. Used it about 3 days & did not like the layout & look. Deleted it & went back to v6 but had to change scripting to elminate the PIA clipboard message. AJ

ps One of the 'features' is that it uses a true pixle size so my pix would come up & I would have to scroll to see the image. Happened even after they had been resized.

I've been looking but can't find the dancing girls. Are they next to the plasma TV?

AJ, you're probably getting screwed out of seeing them by that new pixelation scheme.  On low pixel count displays they look a lot like D00d though.  So you may be better off !!

I've stayed on IE 6 to avoid compatibility issues or whatever else happens when you change things you don't know too much about. Well, maybe enough to be dangerous with. Why would I want to switch to IE 7? Will it offer any benefits that I can't get with IE 6 that I would actually care about using? I've hidden it from Windows Update so it doesn't keep trying to get me to download it. My company has asked us not download it on their computers because it will screw with some of their proprietary programs, blah, blah, blah. What's the deal? Does it really matter what browser you'reusing? Somehow I think IE 7 must be better for Microsoft. What does it do for the guy that likes to search for motorcycle stuff (and maybe make a few posts ::) )? Thanks. ;) Hoist!  8-)
Howie,

#1 - supposedly much more secure than IE6, with it's daily patches to plug security leaks.  Of course, hackers had already found several holes in IE7 before it even made it out of final beta, so you still need an excellent third-party security suite anyway.

#2 - what I like to call frou-frou, things like tabbed browsing and visual effects stolen from other browsers like Firefox, none of which is essential to the basic task of browsing the Web.  (Kind of the same way I feel about Windows Vista, lots of flash and whiz-bang, but requires major hardware and system upgrades to even run, and even on new machines tends to run slower than XP.)

I've not considered downloading IE7, and probably won't until I buy a new computer with Vista preinstalled.  Too many hours wasted in the past after installing "new and improved" software from Microsoft that turned out to be buggy and incompatible with some of my other software.

Thanks a lot Jerry. I tried Firefox. I know there are features that IE 6 doesn't have. I dont use them. I open IE 6 in a New window if I want to do more than 1 thing. I suppose, like all this high tech stuff, that it's more feature-packed and secure. But like everything else, get it working right first, which usually doesn't happen. Boy, I can't wait for that PROVEN and TESTED 110"er now! ::) I hope I don't miss my carb bike! ;) Hoist!  8-)
