I know your comment was made at least partially in jest, but there is some truth there as well.  Most of what I know about computers is self-taught, and much of that is due to having to constantly fix problems related to Microsoft and it's software.  So I guess I have to thank good ol' Bill Gates for my computer skills.  Don't tell him though, or he'll figure out a way to charge me a fee for the training. ;D

I know how you feel. I at one time was scared to sit behind a keyboard for fear of breaking something, but like you I have learned (self-taught) how to fix stuff, trouble shoot, and recently (with the help of a friend) built my latest home PC.

So I've come a long way from worrying about breaking/messing up things I have been known to break (insert try new settings ::)) it on purpose [smiley=oops.gif] just to figure out how to fix it. ;D
