Plastic bags and zip ties/ duct tape?

maybe someone here has the solution, but I have found that nothing is completely water proof unless it does not breath at all (plastic)

and the Temp range you are riding in (as Don has suggested with his question) is important.

The riding speed can be an issue (the faster the harder it is keep water out)

I always have 3 or 4 sets of gloves with me at all times and I carry heavy plastic bags that can be modified to cover hands or feet with a little improvisation.

They are light and you may be surprised how handy they can be.

i have xxl black rubber gloves which i can wear over my normal gloves, never have wet hands when i wear these, maybe u can find something similar from your local gardening or work wear stores, you could also ask your local vetinary for a pair of long gloves that he/she wears when inspecting the rear hole of a cow,  lol

I have waterproof gloves from HD that work great except when you pull them off say like to re fuel and you get your hands wet near imposible to get back on. So will watch this thread to see if someone has a better idea as don't want to go back to the old days with the plastic bags.

You are exactly right. I have the same problem, I pull the gloves off after making a 150 mile plus run in the rain to refuel and my hands are cold wet and they stick to the material used inside the glove making it virtually impossible to get on fully. Then it takes for ever while riding to get comfortable again....Roy

I have used those stretchy surgical gloves over my fabric gloves, when done throw them away.

I got those and I'm happy with them.

When I forgot them - as I'm over 50 that happens sometimes  ;) - in Europe gas-stations use to have plastic-gloves for diesel-users. Those over my regular leather gloves do the job too  :)

The best I have found came from Bass Pro Shops. They refer to them as "Waterfowler's Gloves". Neoprene with a fuzzy inner surface. (Made for retrieving dead ducks from cold lakes!) May not cover the whole riding season, but worked for me here in Canada! I'm sure the other outfitters carry something similar. Mine are camo, but in the rain, who cares?
Same problem though...don't take them off in the rain...they're a bi&%ch to put back on!!

I use these. They are Kayaking gloves, with curved fingers. Thin and still have good dexterity. They do get wet inside, but it may be from sweat. they come on and off, but with a small bit of work. They are the best I've found to date. Call them and ask them what they recommend. they are very helpful

Buell makes a Gorex gauntlet glove that's pretty reasonable. Good protection and 3 season warmth. Doesn't use the furry lining so easy to get on even with damp hands.

Aerostitch sells some gauntlet "over gloves" that work real well.  In the winter you wear them over your good warm (expensive) gloves and in the summer you wear them over your thinner gloves.  I have used them lots of times and not complaints, well maybe one, they look ugly but since it is raining who cares.

I stopped in a place called Leather Shack in Maggie Valley, NC a few weeks ago and they had an entire lineup of waterproof gloves there.  They were some very nice, very soft leather and I wish I had grabbed a pair while I was there.  They were a bit pricey, and I can't remember the brand name on them.  I'll check out the sites mentioned above, but I won't buy gloves without trying them on either, like many other things.  I guess I'll just have to pick up a pair the next time I'm in MV.

Spyder, if you get in there, they had some with the little pin holes on the back (breathable) and they were ultra soft and (excuse the pun) fit like a glove.  Compared to Harley prices, I guess they weren't too bad.  I think they with in the $50 to $60 range.

I have a pair, found on the discount rack. Wish I had bought all that were in the bin. They work great, are waterproof, can get on with wet hands due to the smooth inside.
But, they are fabric outside and are already starting to show their age. Even with the torn up exterior they are still waterproof as they are lined with Gore Tex.  :2vrolijk_21:

I also use these as part of my rain gear. in colder weather, I wear them over mid weight riding gloves. During warmer weather, I wear a pair of cheap synthetic glove liners underneath them to keep the seams from chaffing my fingers. Works fine for all but the hottest of days.  If the liners get a little wet when I refuel, it's not a big deal because there is There is no breathing or airflow through the "Spock" gloves.

Even the FXRG need to be sprayed with 3M Scotchgard every once in a while to keep the thread/seams totally waterproof, Walmart in the sporting good section, Red top 3M for leather, Green top 3M for the other materials.

They are not gauntlet style, but do have a little longer cuffs you can pull over your sleeves. I don't know the brand off hand, but I only wanted a thin waterproof for 3 season use. I already have a big pair of the HD's which are ridiculously bulky, and a set of Gerbings T5's, which are somewhat water resistant for the polar conditions.  None of the thinner HD waterproof gloves are any good.

Was just on a long trip and used the Gerbing G-3 gloves. Got caught in the rain with them, not intending to use them as rain gloves and I'll be darned, they kept me dry. Happened a couple of times and the leather got wet, but the waterproof liner kept my dry. I now have a new set of rain gloves. I was very pleased. Dry and warm---that combo hasn't happened for a long time.  I'll use them in the rain, even if I don't plug them in.  They worked well in warm temps too.

gortex is the answer.  FXRG gloves are soft as butter and have gortex.  To save a few bucks ski shops have sales this time of year get ones that have a nice gauntlet to cover your sleeve of your heaviest coat.  I have found brand new ones on Ebay for about $25.

Just before my trip to MV I purchased a pair of Held Rainstorm Gloves from Revzilla.com. They are great! I have been looking for a good waterproof glove that can be used in all seasons and are not to bulky. I found them. On my ride up to MV it was in the 80's and in MV some mornings it was in the upper 30's to low 40's. I encountered rain, stoppped to fuel up and it was easy on and off! Good protection and fits, well like a glove. :D I paid $150 and they look like I will get my moneys worth out of them. I also liked that they were not to bulky and worked well with my heated grips...I'm just saying! ;D

FXRG's are great, Held is good but both are pricey and you do not use them often (hopefully). Go to your local Bass Pro shop or Columbia clothing store. Both have excellent water proof (Gortex) gloves. Either winter weight or summer weight. You can get a pretty high end winter type for less than $60 @ Bass Pro. I have the Harley Rain Gloves that I paid $85 for several years ago and they work great although I do spray them with 3M Scotchgard at least once a year. But when you get your hands wet buying gas or whatever you can hardly get them back on and they have no more actual "protection" than the $40 Redhead (Bass Pro House Brand) ones I bought, neither leak, a drop but you can get the Redheads back on without going crazy or the fingers pulling out backwards when you take them off.
FYI - ONLY buy Gortex or similar for bike use, sweating is going to happen and they must breathe or you get just as wet inside the glove as out.
