I'm thinking of joining the club and getting my first tattoo. If one is considering only one tattoo, this tattoo would be on the bicep area of my arm, are there any rules or lessons one should follow? I just don't want to make a mistake like "getting an earring in the wrong ear" kinda thing.
There are no rules - that's part of the reason most of us get tattoos. However, I like to share my ideas with someone getting into body art:
1. No "postage stamps" (Get it large enough.)
2. Try to come up with an original idea, rather than just getting something out of a book of flash at the tattoo parlor.
3. Find an artist who likes to do original work, he or she will take the time to make your idea a collaboration between the both of you.
4. Don't worry about the cost. It's original art.
5. Take care of it while it heals. I use Aquaphor.
