Hello,
I'm about to become the owner of an FXR3 and am seeking info on the model. Not a whole lot from the HD site, and I'm wondering if anyone can lead me to specs?

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new scoot. There is a bunch of info here, hang around a while and you'll find what your looking for [smiley=laugh.gif]

Welcome aboard. I have a FXR2. The FXR2, 3, and 4 line were all very similar, so dependinig on what you want to know the chances are pretty good that somebody here can help. I recently replaced the Badlander seat and mini-rail sissy bar that came on my FXR2 with the seat and sissy bar from a FXR3 (courtesy of ebay). The 3 seat is much more comfortable.
Anyway, glad to see you and yes, not bad for a first Harley. I was a British bike guy a l ong time ago and the FXR2 is my first Harley, too. I like it so much it may be my last.

as far as i know the drivetrain is stock EVO in the FXR line. other than that i'm sure one of the other FXR owners can help you out with an specific questions you have.

Right. Stock EVO motor with lots of chrome trim. The CVO started with these bikes, their marquee feature being the frame itself--discontinued from production since 1994 but still admired by many as the best handling big twin Harley ever made. I can vouch for that--it handles as nimbly as my old Triumph, plus a whole lot more torque. Since the EVO was going away, and the Twin Cam motor wouldn't fit in the FXR frame without modification (to the frame), the factory chose the combination plus bunches of chrome and custom paint as the kick-off bike for the CVO division.

Wanted to welcome you to the site, neanderpaul, but also have a hidden agenda. We need you, RedFXR2 and/or other FXR owners in the Smokies at the end of April. From the looks of the poll (http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=event_CVO;action=display;num=1093393980), we are short only an FXR and V-Rod model to round out the complete CVO line at the Gathering. How about it, guys?!?! [smiley=bigok.gif]

I don't know.

UPDATE: The dealer has it aside for me. I'm hoping to pick it up/have it delivered in the next week or so. The bike's tight. Stock exhaust replaced with Vance & Hines. So, that needs not to be done. Everything else looks to be stock.

I'm thinking of using a panacea by itself or using the tail-turn assemly from the Deluxe on my FatBoy.
The Panacea may look better on your bike, I think. I'm also looking into putting the turn signals in the mirrors. Found a few mirrors with marker/turn on the front but hard to find a good mirror with the led's on the back right now.

I don't really want to change a lot on it. I think the Motor Co. got it right from the beginning, and everyone I've spoken to believes it needs nothing.

Well, The deal is done! I am now the proud owner of an FXR3 w/ 3,530 miles.
I went to be "formally introduced" to my new ride yesterday, and was bummed, and relieved actually, to find out that the dealer had to move it out of the the showroom and to the warehouse due to the amount of people wanting to sit on it. Total cost after sales taxes and plating charges: $18, 034.72. I know it's a little over what the national avg. is right now, but I don't mind paying for something special, and by all accounts, this is a special bike.
I'm pretty stoked...just waiting for that truck to roll in and deliver it :)
...oh, and this friggin' snow to melt (he writes as the flakes keep falling)
Thanks for all the advice/info! [smiley=1syellow1.gif]

Oh so many congratulations on your wonderful new bike. You are going to absolutely love it. It is very special indeed. Like you said, "Not bad for your first Harley." And, neanderpaul, welcome to this most wonderful site. A lot of wise people pull up chairs and share experiences here. It is a lot of fun and very informative. You are not too far from Mr WeCVO and I, we both have CVO SEEGs. Any time you are passing by, be sure to holler. Do you know about the event in the Smokies? http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=event_CVO;action=display;num=1106194346. We'd love for you to join us. Hope you enjoy it here, and keep sharing your experiences with us. We love to listen. Take lots of pics too, cause we also like to watch. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Congrats on the new bike neanderpaul. Any info you'll need you'll find on this great site. I know what you mean about winter, it's 13 degrees here and still too much snow on ground. Pray for spring!
