Title: Memphis Shades
Post by: Twolanerider on February 23, 2005, 09:05:16 PM
Had never really cared for color tinted windshields before.  Primarily seeing them on Road King or Heritages and just didnt' like the color dropping up from the bottom and fading in to nothing in particular.  Becasue of this wasn't really interested in the color tinted screens that Memphis Shades makes for the Glides either.  But someone I know had one, never used, and decided to get rid of it for a modest price (thirty bucks).  So figured I'd give it a try and see just what it looked like on the bike.

Surprise!!  It ain't too bad.  For those of us with the outstanding good taste to have the red bikes the red color tint on the Memphis Shades screen is just about a dead on match.  Was really surprised that I liked it.  Wish it was something shorter than a 12" screen but I'll used it enogh to see how it is on the road before thinking about trying anything shorter.

I have never been much for the tinted windshields either....but that looks really good on the red bike, and as luck has it, mine's red too... I'll have to add it to the wish list!!

Outstanding!  Thanks for the PICs.  I've got the red SEEG too and I really like that look.

Here we go again.

2lane,
you sure you aren't the producer for "pimp my ride"?

Funny thing about that Mike is that instead of "Memphis Shades" the first thing I'd typed in the subject line for this thread was "Pimp My Ride."  Then for some reason I actually made it topical.

Too many tools are signs of a misspent youth and too many skinned knuckles.  That's just the garage here at the house though.  The "playroom" is the shop where the old cars are kept and where they get worked on.  That's where most of the tools are kept  [smiley=beerchug.gif].

In all seriousness I probably do get a bit anal about keeping the tools organized though.  Always have.  Even when I was a kid before college doing that kind of thing for a living.  It's just easier and faster to know where stuff is and to know when something is missing.

Looked for an orange one for my bike but had to settle for a black tint,  sure like the red on the bike though looks very nice.

Colored windshields don't turn my crank but I was impressed by your garage.

Dennis Kirk offers a 9 inch windshield with the red but its $73.00 plus shipping. I got one coming my way! I think I might get one for the camel too!  [smiley=biggthumpup.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=1syellow1.gif] [smiley=6.gif] [smiley=7.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif]

Twolanerider,

I was wondering what that would look like. Not sure I like it enough to spring for a new one, but thanks for the pic.

Hey 2Lane.....like the look of the red tint.  Please be careful about looking through the bottom portion on the "morning after"!

Hey Twolaner,

Do you know if your shield is ruby or purple?  Dennis Kirk doesn't have pictures of the ruby on their site, but I saw one of the purple gradients and it looks more red than purple.  Love the look.

Ok, after further review........

This new red tinted screen....   Like the looks.  It's a keeper (I say, surprising even myself).  Just not this particular one.  It's a 12" screen.  It's top is exactly in my line of sight.

The guy I got it from asked me $30.00 for it.  He said they're $70-ish new.  This one has been on the bike for about two hours riding time today and one trip to the car wash.  If anyone wants it they can have it for the same $30.00 I paid for it plus whatever the mailing cost is.

I'm gonna get a 9 incher.  For the combination of my height, my saddle, and the way I sit in it that's a good height.  But I can't be stretching or scrunching down to see over or under this one all the time.  Not worth messing with.

May have to go out and pay for a 9 incher now.  Oh well..........

If you want to keep your 12 incher, I'll bring it and a couple of bungee cords when I see you in Maggie Valley.  I suspect we could complete the install in less than a minute.    [smiley=cool3.gif]

Are we still talkin' about windshields? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
