Title: Passenger backrest 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra
Post by: johnmowcop on June 11, 2018, 05:27:41 PM
Advise please.

I want to temporarily remove the topbox form the above model and put in place a sissy bar and passenger backrest.
Could I use the existing rack below the topbox.
Any recommendations for backrest.
What else do I need to remove.

Thanks in advance JohnT

Really, nobody has any information on this?
I can tell you that I had to take my tour pack off because of damage.  After you spend the 30+ minutes un-wiring everything and then unbolting the tour pack, you will need to tape off all the wire ends and secure them under your seat the best way you can.  as far as putting a back rest on I think you would need to unbolt the bottom bracket from the frame and maybe change it out for a quick connect or something similar.  Of course if you have an amp under the bottom bracket you will have to do something with that as well.  I am pretty sure the reason HD doesn't offer a quick connect setup like they do for a non CVO is the amount of wiring.

It can be done but it's not going to be the easiest modification.

The 2011 FLTRUSE (I used to own one) has an amplifier located under the TP. You'll have to figure out how to relocate it. I believe most folks were putting this in one of the saddlebags. I suppose you could just disconnect and run without it. Also, I don't believe there is a disconnect plug. So you will need to wire a plug into the bundle if you want easy on/off.

Then mechanically, you need to remove the TP frame mount and install detachable mounting hardware. That's where your passenger backrest is going to interface.  Here are some links, the HD parts site is down right now. You can get cheap Chinese chit on eBay but I don't recommend it.
