Title: Jiffy stand interlock sensor
Post by: ultra13 on December 31, 2018, 09:38:40 PM
OK..Tonight I tried start my 13 CVO Ultra on the lift. With the  run switch on (pump activated) I pushed the start button and nothing..No noise what-so-ever. It was in neutral and had a green light. After several attempts I pulled the clutch in and it started. As I let it run I got the service book out and noticed a pic of the "Jiffy Stand Interlock Sensor". I don't have one. Is that an International option?
I shut it down and tried it again and it started normal without the clutch, on the lift and in neutral...Confused!

There is no jiffy stand switch on domestic models as noted by skratch.  What you do have is a clutch switch which works in conjunction with the neutral switch.  If the ECM thinks the bike is in gear (neutral switch input), it is supposed to block the starting circuit UNLESS the clutch is disengaged (clutch lever switch).  Since the bike started as soon as you disengaged the clutch, it would appear the clutch switch is working as intended but you may have an intermittent issue with the neutral switch or it's wiring.

I wonder if "International" refers to ALL bikes sold outside of the U.S.?  Or possibly this "jiffy stand interlock sensor" you speak of is something new?  :nixweiss:

I have never heard of such a thing here in Canada.  I also have never had a problem starting my bike (with it in neutral sitting on the jiffy stand) while standing beside it.
