Title: Garmin VIRB camera vs GoPro
Post by: 05Ultra on December 03, 2013, 11:34:12 PM
Don't really like the looks of the GoPro and I found this one. Has anyone used it yet?

The Replay XD looks interesting also. Anything to look for in one of these camera

I'm torn between the new Garmin unit and this one:

Both claim to be able to record video and take still shots at the same time which is something that the current GOPRO offering does not do.
I'm actually leaning towards the JVC unit and will probably purchase one or the other fairly soon.

I know I don't like the goPro. For looks if nothing else...The JVC looks promising. I like the fact that it has dual 1/4-20 tripod mounts. Makes it easier to use a RAM mount. I have till July to make a choice. I wish the prices were more diverse. All pretty much the same. Can't use that as an excuse.

I like that the JVC has a remote app for the iPhone as I use the i5 for music, nav, and yes, telephone, while on the bike.

I like that the Garmin has a waterproof case (50meters) available so that I can use it while SCUBA diving, if the Garmin had a remote app for the i5, my decision would be a lot easier...

Glad to see some competition ~ it usually improves the breed.
