Hey MR, welcome aboard. The old crappy leather saddlebag lock question. HD sells a lock set, that you can get key-matched, for the '07 SERKs. I'm not convinced they're very effective. I bought a set of used hard bags for mine. Finding someone to match the '07 paint scheme is the fun part. Good luck with your new SERK. Enjoy the site. ;) Hoist! 8)

I will be picking up the locks for my bags tomorrow. I had a set on my last RK custom.  they work fine.
you can break into the hard bags just as easy as you can into the leather ones.

after all,  locks are only good at keeping honest people out. if someone wants in,, nothing will stop them.

harleyteam,
I agree, locks keep honest people honest.  What was the turn around for them to make the locks to fit your keys?

getting the HD locks,  they are made to your key code, so you only need the use of one key.  ordered them 2 weeks ago,  and was told yesterday that they are packed and on route to my dealer.

they work fine , you push the key in and turn, then just pull it out. :apple:

I order a set of locks for my '07 FLHRSE3. I installed one of the locks on the left side bag first, just ot make sure I would be happy with it. Well - I wasn't. I was very disappointed with the look and finish. Plus, they hit up against the painted filler piece that is installed between the bags and the rear fender. I took the lock off and put everything in a bag and in a drawer. They won't be going back on. I'll just not keep anything in the bags that I can't live without. I would think that with everything that Harely cooks up for these things - they could do a litter better with these.

Nice to see you again RGL. This is interesting! Now what? HT, you've always seemed to think they were OK. I wouldn't mind them, even if they're not the best security. Something's better than nothing. Seems to be a discrepency on the fit and quality though. HT, do you think they might mount differently on the SERK than your RK, without the Saddlebag Fillers? Maybe a follow-up after you install them? ;) Hoist! 8)

yes, they tell you to mount them at the back.  worked fine on my 05custom.

but I'm going to try and put them up front where the button is now,, and see how that works.
