Harley usually comes out with four CVOs for the year, so maybe midyear? Hoping for a Road Glide custom.

Which is why I am on my first street glide ever. I have had 3 CVO road glides. I prefer the Road Glide.

I definitely prefer a motorcycle with a fixed fairing.

I got sick of waiting, once the 17's were announced without a CVO RG custom I went and bought the 12 skunk that I have been wanting/wishing for since 14. I can live without the infotainment (phone works just as well for nav/streaming). My only gripe is the old style bags, I got spoiled with my 14 FLHXS. The 124" makes it a little bit more tolerable.

Well, I really like what Harley has done for 2017...tempted to sell/trade my 2012 CVO Road Glide for a CVO Street Glide, but really want a CVO Road Glide...my dealer, rather than sell me a CVO Street Glide says "why don't you hold off and come back see me in February "...whaaat...he doesn't want to sell me a bike at this time? Is he nuts?

Not sure he really knows, but I'm waiting...doesn't make sense only 3 2017 CVO's being available at this time (usually 4)...so I'm holding off until February.

So who knows...hopefully patience pays off.

A new CVO Road Glide really be nice. I really like the new upgrades they've done on the M8. If they come out with the new CVO Road Glide, I'd be tempted to trade in my 2011 Screamin Eagle Road Glide. I like everything about my bike except the Heat the engin the puts out. I'm just not sure I can justify the 15 or 16 Grand difference in price to get the new CVO

Yeah there is that whole price thing. I think Harley has finally broke my glass ceiling. $42,000 for a motorcycle, when I really think about that price it makes me sick to my stomach. And now that they have decided to cut production I'm out. There is no reason for this bike to be this expensive. No even made by hand anymore. I can buy a really nice car for that money. Or a couple of other really nice bikes. I'm out!

if it doesn't happen in feb, could always buy the street glide, and then the roadglide fairing, send to joe z for paint and do the swap yourself. then you'd really have a 'one of a kind'....

There is no more difficult company to deal with then BMW. Certainly not saying HD is easy but BMW can be beyond ridiculous

BMW Tourers are not without issues, I owned their flagship model 1600 GTL Exclusive for 4 months, multiple issues (brakes, tranny, exhaust) and 2 recalls during that time; the BMW dealer bought it back, and by the way tires wear very fast 4 - 5k. So beware, and my friends Triumph has been in the shop for 3 weeks awaiting an ignition part.

Little off topic but gonna ask, so went from a Soft tail to Street Glide, and I am really loving the extra room, comfort and wind protection. Looked at the RGs but it seems like hey offer way less wind protection (hands seem exposed) than a Bat wing fairing bike offers. So is it just the looks or does a frame mounted fairing make a huge difference? Trying to understand why folks like the RG.

I agree. I had a BMW and sold it to a friend. After about 2 years of riding it either the lifters or a valve had an issue (can't remember for sure at the moment). Took 9 weeks for him to get his bike back.

I have had three CVO Road glides and recently traded the 15 CVO road Glide for a 17 CVO street glide.

For me the road glide offers more wind protection. Once I find the right shield the Street glide my become equal. However between the lowers and the fairing much more air gets to my upper legs on the street glide, really noticeable in the cold.

At slow parking lot and parking speed when you turn the handle bars on a street glide you get weight shift, on a road glide you do not. I also feel above 75~80 mph the road glide is more stable. The road glide does better in cross winds.

Funny, I can say it appears that I need a taller windscreen on my road glide than on a batwing to push air over the top. So to me taller looks uglier?? Least it appears that way to me.

Plus on a RG your glasss staty steady on your face. Took a limited for a test ride with my girl and her comment was you are NOT getting one of these EVER, told her not to worry. I would say go take an RG for a good long test ride any dealer will be happy to help. Also I noticed a lot of air comes at you from under the fairing. My 2 cent

Like Dave I always had (and still do) RG's but got the 17 SG and agree with Dave on cross winds. When I first got the SG I was getting hammered by the wind and was reluctant to change the shield because I loved the way it looked but after a 100 mile jaunt on the freeway I couldn't take it. I needed up going with the Memphis Shades 8 1/2 spoiler shield and now I would say the wind protection is at least as good as the RG with a Cee Bailey 18 inch step shield.
For me the difference between the RG and SG is very little. I know that statement will upset some but I really think it comes down to what you prefer. I personally love them both!

Have had two Road Glides and would get another. I feel claustrophobic on a Streel Glide or Ultra. They have no room to "move". It's what you get used to.

My first touring Harley was a 2010 Limited. A year later switched to my first CVO .......a 2011 SERG and immediately had to change the stock windshield out for one with an up-kick (recurve) so my BSR wouldn't get head-buffeted. Without the recurve, the batwing windshield is more forgiving because it's much closer to the riders head (claustrophobic

) ........but once you find the right windshield, I much prefer the steadiness of the Road Glide. And with the 2015 RG fairing vented redesign, it's even better. But thankfully, not everyone's the same

My feeling is you can't beat a fixed fairing for better handling and control, thus, the reason the motorcycle manufacturers that actually do research and development on their touring motorcycles, BMW and Honda opted for fixed fairings. I have a 2009 CVO Road Glide with the stock wind visor of approximately 4 - 6 inches and ride it in all types of weather and the bike has 88,000 miles on it. Hell, it is riding unless your being pelted with road stone, bugs and whatever else is on the road at highway speeds so I have never encountered buffeting from the wind visor on my 2009 FLTRSE3 due to the fact it's all wind force created by acceleration.

Had the same bike, but in the silver. Stock shield was like no shield at all. 14 Cee Baily did the trick to make it comfortable and no buffeting.

i always preferred the fixed fairing, erik buell developed it using a wind tunnel long ago. my kids on the other hand prefer the look of the ultra fairing and when the time was right to get a new bike in 07 i was unable to get a fixed fairing... I've threatened several times to convert it - but so far I'm too cheap.

Buffeting (Aeronautics) response of an aircraft structure to buffet, an irregular oscillation of the tail, therefore, with there being no windshield on my 2009 FLTRSE3 to speak of and the oscillation of air flow is not irregular nor is it unpredictable when you increase speed; the wind force against the rider will also naturally increase, this my friends is not true buffeting; whereas, if you do have a windshield and turbulence comes between you and your windshield while riding due to the angle, dimensions, poor design of the windshield and or the riders height, this to me fits the definition of buffeting which has been clearly described by many riders in past postings with legitimate windshields, that can by definition create buffeting.

To recap, to sit on a bike with no windshield (2009 FLTRSE3 windscreen / visor is as tall as the inner fairing) and accelerated; and not to anticipate force just isn't sensible, thus, not an irregular air flow, it is the expected outcome and I can't call that buffeting.

We used to refer to it as "Clean Air" or "Dirty Air". 'Didn't have spellcheck back then so words like laminar flow were out. LOL

"Dirty Air" (usually) increases buffeting on a fairing bike.

Craig Vetter was involved in the fairing designs for HD, both the Electra Glide and the Tour Glide..

Out of the 3 colors choices available, the Yellow/Slate was the rarest and Fastest color!!!

Yea, it would be interesting to have a set of bookends...

On the other hand, I appreciate that the Yellow and Slate of the '09s have not been used on any other bikes (yet)

When HD comes out with the M8 CVORGU, I've thought of painting one the '00 SERG O/B, my favorite paint scheme on a RG to date...

My first CVO was a 2010 Street Glide. I fell in love with this bike. Put 50,000 miles on it in four years. Mistakenly traded it in 2015 for a Street Glide Special. Big mistake. I just traded that bike for a 2012 Road Glide Custom CVO. Should have bought this model first! The Road Glide is so much nicer to ride. Virtually no weight on the steering head since the stereo, headlight, and fairing are all frame mounted. I can't imagine riding anything else.

Agree 100%. Owned both at the same time and really enjoyed both equally.

I’m hoping for one to come out. I’m wanting to trade my 15 CVO Limited for the CVO RG. Was disappointed not to see one so far this year.
