Hello All-
My name is Leah, and I’m the guardian of a 2016 CVO Ultra. How I got here is interesting. My father always rode when I was growing up. He retired in 2015 and in 2016 bought himself the bike he always wanted, a 2016 CVO Ultra. He had planned to ride it on a 3 month long trip across the country. Before doing so, diabetic neuropathy caught up to him and he lost his leg below the knee.
With it now certain that dad won’t be riding, he asks me if I wanted to store his bike, and I was welcome to ride it if I wanted to. Well, I didn’t even know how to ride a motorcycle, never mind one as huge as this one. So I took the Lee Parks Total Control class and bought myself a Honda Rebel to practice on. I owned it for a year and now have graduated up to the Ultra. I’m 5’2” and 105 LBS so the bike doesn’t suit me at all. But it’s special because it is dads bikes.
I’m an FAA air traffic controller in Palmdale and I’ve been riding it to work about two days per week. It’s literally a road sofa. I’m not sure what the future has in store for me and this bike, because it doesn’t suit me well at all. But in the meantime, I plan to take a few days in early October and ride three or four of the Sierra passes, and then Arizona in mid-October.
I’ve come here to learn, so I’m going to get started! Hope to eventually meet some of you out on the road!
