You should have received a separate manual and a CD for your GPS. Not sure if their is a manual on the CD. Did you buy the bike from a dealer? If so i would discuss with them. I don't think your going to be happy with the factory GPS, most people are adapting to the ZUMO.

Good Luck.

Brett,

PM me with your email address. I got a PDF of the manual from Jacques. It's too big to attach here.

Hi Bret, put the disc in your bike's CD player.  It activates automatically.  Push the NAV button and it will walk you through the set up.  I don't think the discs are intended to work on a PC.

Your dealer is wrong, it definately doesn't do that.

Brett - I tried it on my 07.  Once.  Know of a few who use the HD radio GPS, but most go to another handlebar mounted product, since the HD radio version is rudimentary.

If you program "home" into it, it would get you back home though.

You can also reset "home" to be any location you wish - motel, campgrounds, etc.

No map is only 1 drawback.

That makes no sense at all.  it won't work without the nav disc in the CD drive.  Did the dealer think you burned your maps on the CD and THEN used it in the HK stereo?  I was a bit disappointed in the HD GPS.  I feel at least the contents of the NAV CD should load on the HK unit so the CD player can be used while navigating with the GPS (another draw back).  Believe it or not, I like mine enough to keep it.  I'll just listen to XM or FM while using the nav function.  I'd hate to get lost with a scratched NAV disc though.  I hate asking directions.

You can use the GPS while listening to a CD, I do it all the time.
1st ----insert GPS CD, program your route of destination.
2nd ---once trip is planned, remove GPS CD and insert your MP3 CD.
I use MP3 files on a CD to get 250 songs on one CD, it's great!
The music will automatically go off and your GPS will announce an up coming turn, then your music will come back on automatically, you can also adjust the volume on both the music and GPS seperatly. I played with mine (GPS that is) in the driveway and just tried different things.

Me read the manual never, so self respecting man would ever read the manual first.
Maybe after a few Captian and cokes.

Ride on!

Another tip I just thought of, I burned a copy of my GPS CD and carry that with me. The original Disks are kept at home for safe keeping. It worked for me!

That is true, but don't deviate too far off your route. Say you're cruising along and see a sign for the next 'mystery spot' and decide if a man can truly find it and off you go.....well get too far off the route and it will ask for the disk.

I never take mine out of the HK unit, except to run an update, when they're available.  The disc is safe inside the unit and won't get scratched as there are no physical parts that touch the readable portion of the disk.  I tried  burning a copy and keeping the original safe at home, but I had problems at times with the unit reading the copy.

I'm a newbie to the HD Nav system. The way I understand the instructions and what seems to be verified here, is that the CD has to stay in the unit in order for it to work. Is that correct? I have a Zumo 550 on my 06 Ultra that I like a lot. The wife has inherited the bike, but I may repossess the Zumo from it and put it on the 08 SEUC

Do not waste too much time on the Factory GPS,  not worth the trouble , get a Garmin unit.....very good and easy to use

saving $700. is not worth an accident
