I never take mine out of the HK unit, except to run an update, when they're available.  The disc is safe inside the unit and won't get scratched as there are no physical parts that touch the readable portion of the disk.  I tried  burning a copy and keeping the original safe at home, but I had problems at times with the unit reading the copy.

I'm a newbie to the HD Nav system. The way I understand the instructions and what seems to be verified here, is that the CD has to stay in the unit in order for it to work. Is that correct? I have a Zumo 550 on my 06 Ultra that I like a lot. The wife has inherited the bike, but I may repossess the Zumo from it and put it on the 08 SEUC

JUST BOUGHT A 07 ULTRA SE2. NO PAPERWORK ON GPS SYSTEM.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME TO FIGURE THIS OUT? MAYBE SOMEONE HAS A MANUAL I CAN GET A COPY OF? ANY HELP WILL BE APRECIATED! CAN'T SEEM TO OPEN DISCS ON MY COMPUTER! MAYBE THE WRONG ADOBE READER?

Do not waste too much time on the Factory GPS,  not worth the trouble , get a Garmin unit.....very good and easy to use

saving $700. is not worth an accident
