    • CVO1: 1999 FXR3 CANDY BLUE

It's a sad day when a man has to part with his bike, but wife wants half and no way in He!! I am going to divide this bike up.
Here's the story:
I bought this bike new in Sept.of 99 in North Dakota. It has been kept in a Harley Bubble since day 1, other than the occasional summer rides with my kids. I live in Alaska, but the bike is still at my "in-laws" in ND. It is all original with the exception of Vance & Hines straight shots, S.E. Teardrop air cleaner, jet kit, and drag style handle bars. I have the original parts in a box. Bike has 1277 miles. Thats (one thousand two hundred and seventy seven.) It's never been down, wrecked, scratched or even ridden in the rain. I have never had the heart to bring it to Alaska and trash it with the dirt and gravel that gets on our highways. So i only get to see it once a year. I just had it serviced at the local shop in ND with full synthetics. I am not sure where this bike falls into the build order, but last 6 of V.I.N. are 951778

My dream was to keep it and hand it down to my son when he was old enough to honestly take care of it, but an unfortunate ATV accident claimed his left hand and changed those plans. What is this thing worth? I am very serious about selling it, but I need to get the right price.

The CVO FXRs are cheap these days.  Offer her a few (4-5) K for her share if you can afford it.

I would be interested in talking with you about buying your bike.(a good friend of mine looking). The price of the fxr cvo bikes are definitely down. I have a buddy that bought a 2000 tangerine fxr4, 3,800 miles for 10k. stock bike with forward controls, when he bought it, he could of bought a 99 fxr2 red with 5,000 miles for 8,750.  I am not trying to tell you the value of your bike but what I have seen in the market for the cvo fxr's. I think if your hoping to get 15 to 16k you might be dissappointed, That said, If I owned your bike thats what I would want for it. Abernathys hd dealer had a 2000 fxr3 yellow, less than 5,000 miles, asking price was 10,500 a couple of months ago. There is a red fxr2  at a hd dealer in north dakota, 4,800 miles, 15k to buy it, been listed on ebay for 6 months, Lot of sellers asking 15 to 20k for these bikes and they are not selling. send me a number so we can talk. I hope to have an original low mileage fxr one day, awesome machines,

The question is: do you want to know what the bike is worth or what you want to tell her it's worth. This is a classic example of what I like to call the lead / gold theory. It's lead when you're buyin' & gold when you're sellin. Is there any way she would be willing to allow you to buy her out? If so, put a price on it at which the market is actually going to buy. I'd target the $10k-$12k range. Provided she is not going to read this thread, remember you have a 1 of 64 bike (actually less as some may not be in existence any more and we know of one that has been repainted). It is the rarest of all CVO's built. With that said, in better economic times you may have been able to fetch somewhere in the $16k-$19k range. I would do all I could to buy her out in the $5k-$6k range if at all possible.

I wish you the absolute best of luck and am sorry to hear of your son's accident.

I still have the bike tucked away safely for now.
Sooner or later, it will have to go.
