Ohhhhh, the CVO doth require certain mods that shouldn't be measured in per cents and such......the satisfactory 'grin' is enough.  ;D  har!  spyder

I didn't take that as a grouse about the $240.  Only that he might have gotten hosed on the price of the pipe which he may have at $240.

thanks, yeah I am not complaining about the 240...after all I would not have paid it if I did not think it was fair...more just wondering if the prices of these non-cat pipes are coming down at all...I think the new non-cat head pipe is around 4 or 500 without the heat shields and since this was off a brand new bike that the guy changed over to the v&h crossover pipe with v&h mufflers I thought I did pretty good.  I wound up with a new pipe, new crossover and excellent condition heat shields for a decent price.

Brand new non cat head pipe from Zanotti HD is about $314 plus shipping to lower 48 except for poor California, to which they will not sell/ship thanks to CARB.  ;D

Prices on these are all over the place but they seem to currently be in the $150-$200 range.  I ended up having my cat pipe cut and buying another cat pipe as backup, so I have more than $240 in mine, but that's what it took to get it done and I feel fine about it.

Any prices below Zanotti's are likely to be for take offs from other motorcycles where there were complete changes of exhausts. So they are used parts. I'd rather pay the difference in price and know I have something brand new and no problems installing because of possible damage in the removal process.
