primary noise
« on: August 30, 2009, 01:44:40 PM »

[url]I have a chattering noise which seems to be around the primary area . when I pull in the clutch leaver the noise goes away. It is really noticeable when I deaccelerate. The magnetic rotor has wear on the outer face about 1/16 of an inch  at the starting point of the teeth face. When I retorqued the compensating sprocket nut it felt as if it bottomed out before I reached 165-150 ftlbs. Any suggestions? p.s. the bike is a 1999 fxr2.

I finally found the noise after replacing the clutch hub bearing and the inner primary bearing and inner race on trani out put shaft. Sorry to say that all of the above were not the cause. It ended up being the rear belt pulley flange where the side of the belt rides against. A bar of soap fixed the noise instead of dry silicone spray that wears off after two short rides.

So it was you leaving a trail of bubbles along the backroads?
