Compensator Nut Lock
« on: October 25, 2010, 11:53:05 AM »

Just saw this new part from Automotivemachine.com.

I am planning on swapping out my tranny this winter to a Baker 6sp and while I have the primary open, I was thinking about installing this.
Does this seem like a worthwhile addition?  It's a bit pricey for a lock plate, but it seems like good insurance.

Matt, chalk this up as strictly anecdotal.  Have seen many comp nuts come loose.  Including my own.  But that was with the old torque spec.  With the revised torque spec from a few years ago haven't seen it be so much of a problem.

If it's something one is concerned about that lock is certainly an easy and obvious solution.  While it is expensive for what you're buying it is also cheap compared to the damage that might eventually be caused by a loose comp nut and isn't all that much more than a set of gaskets you might use up just tightening a nut whose looseness hadn't yet done any damage.
