Rear-end dips when cracking throttle? - video
« on: December 17, 2010, 08:40:19 AM »

Hope you folks don't mind me (a non-CVO owner) coming to your for a little insight.  I was hoping to get a CVO, but instead picked up this standard RG at winter pricing.  Knowing this site includes many higher-HP Harley drivetrains, I thought you may have the answer at the tip of your brain mass!

I'm new to extensively modifying Harleys. I've had an old 80" evo RKing that I have enjoyed for many years, and I just purchased to this "slightly modified" 2008 Road Glide. Got 14" of snow the day I started to inspect it so no test ride yet...or probably for months.   :'(

Prior owner had a 103SE kit(SE255 cams, clutch spring, PCV) Baker DD7 trans, True-Track, and 18" rims installed at a HD dealer prior to my purchase. While inspecting it, I noticed the entire rear-end of scooter dips when cracking throttle (hence the video below).  I've seen requests here for reviews on the Baker DD7, but I haven't been able to test it yet except to jack up the rear wheel to ensure all gears work.  Will provide input when I can.

Is this movement normal with any of the upgrades described above? Not that I dislike it, just checking with those much more knowledgeable than me. All motor mounts look OK, 20lbs in air shocks.

I'm thinking the True-Track stiffens the drivetrain and causes this?

Let me know what you think? Notice I can't initially remember the tech's name that was helping me...Oopps  ::)

Looks like a good demonstration on Newton's 2nd law.

I guess my evo RK didn't do it as much, or the tour-pak just made me notice it more.

Either way I am glad to be in the 103SE realm...got at least some twistin' TQ.
