CVO Hydraulic clutch upgrade question
« on: February 20, 2011, 02:54:32 PM »

I have a 2011 CVO SG and I'm talking to Scott at Hillside and Joe at Joe's Cycle about a significant engine HP & torque upgrade, in the neighborhood of 120 HP & 130 TQ. I'm looking at Hillside's stage II head work, 58 mm SE throttlebody with 5.3 g/s injectors, modified & upgraded by Horsepower Incorporated, higher compression pistons, Woods 555 cam, SE Pro Air cleaner made for the 58mm trottlebody. If I do this, I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my stock hydraulic clutch. I don't want it slipping when Joe is tunning it. Any advice or suggestions? Further, if there is an available clutch upgrade and I do it before the engine work, will I notice any difference in feel with the stock motor and the hand control? Thanks.

What is the solution that was offered?  I am getting a similar build.  How did the build turn out?   Runs good?

Thanks

I ended up going a different route. I bought a 120R engine and put that in myself, then afterwards, bought a Woods 408-6 cam from Scott at Hillside. It doesn't feel all that different than the 266E cams, but next week I'm doing some dyno pulls and comparing the two cams. As for the clutch, I took Sadunbar's (Scott) suggestion and replaced the stock clutch with a BDL BTXP-14 and a VP 92T variable pressure kit. I'm very happy with the clutch.

What timing as my clutch turned to toast Friday afternoon, saw this post and most of the answers are here. Can you tell us where to purchase the items to complete the clutch and the cost?  I was going through some old post trying to determine on whether to purchase the Energy One kit with the spring for $166.00  vs the Screamin Eagle kit with spring for about the same price with Jenni's discount.  Can someone tell me what makes the combination suggested superior to the ones I mentioned?  I'm guessing lighter hand pressure will be reduced while getting the performance of a heavy duty clutch.  I would rate my riding as very aggressive from time to time and I will be having some additional performance mods made to my 08 SERK after this riding season.   Any help would be greatly appreciated as I know next to nothing on choosing a clutch replacement.  I'm on hold for now and need to do something ASAP.

Thanks
