2005's are on the H-D website . . .
« on: July 15, 2004, 12:01:08 PM »

Hey, guys, they're out there: Fat Boy, V-Rod and Electra Glide are the CVO's.  Electra Glides have Thunderstar wheels this year (maybe they won't peel), chopped tour-pak, and vented lowers!

The lowers on the SEEG and Ultra are "vented".  It appears the sides of the lowers do not come back as far as as the 04 and earlier models.

Looks mostly like just color changes, kind of boring really.  For fans of the Fat Boy they do get some thing new and upgraded which is good for them.  But the colors, yuk.  I know things like color choice is so subjective and individualized but man that yellowl, yeeeoowww.  :(  Hated the look of the yellow color they had on this years Duece and on a bagger that is a alot of yellow.  But heck to each his own and I am sure there will be those that disagree and think it is the best color choice ever.

Yeah, it's tough to make everyone happy on color.  No doubt there were those that thought this year's colors were horrible and have been waiting patiently to see the new ones.  The guys buying the new ones will hopefully be hanging out here soon, so from that aspect, it's probably not right of us to be too critical of the new machines.  Besides, the way I look at it, anything's better and more interesting than the black/silver and gunmetal most of us got so tired of seeing in '03.   [smiley=oops.gif], there I go again bashing colors. Although not CVO related, this may be look into the future offerings of HD...

HARLEY-DAVIDSON TO OFFER ABS ON POLICE MODELS IN 2005

Milwaukee (July 15, 2004) - Harley-Davidson will offer an optional anti-lock braking system (ABS) on three police motorcycle models in the 2005 model year. The ABS is designed to give motor patrol officers maximal braking effect without wheel lock-up in all-weather emergency situations, especially on slick roads. The system retains traditional independent front and rear wheel braking control.

The Harley-Davidson ABS will be offered on the FLHTPI Electra Glide and FLHPI Road King police models, and on the California FLHPEI Escort model. The system will not be offered with Harley-Davidson Police Sidecar installations and will not be available on the XLH Sportster 883 police model. Harley-Davidson does not plan to offer ABS on other motorcycle models available to the general public, but Harley-Davidson will continue to monitor customer interest in ABS.

Here's an article on the AMA website about the 2005 CVO bikes:

Some interesting riding reviews and dragstrip tests, along with photos.
